Are you up for the Summer Reading Challenge?
- Summer reading will run from Thursday, June 11th through Monday, August 24th
- You can read any books that you like– print books, ebooks or audio books count!
- Keep track of your reading this summer and turn in a log in August—you must read 900 minutes or more to earn prizes.
- Simkins students who read 1200 minutes or MORE will earn a chance at a FREE book from the Scholastic book fair held next year!
- Print the calendar below or keep track of your minutes on a separate piece of paper.
- Check the Media Center page on the Simkins website for book ideas and links!
- We’ll remind you at the beginning of the school year to get your logs ready to turn in!
- They are due in the media center, signed by parents, on or before September 1.
- Make sure your name is on it along with a parent signature.
How to log in to Destiny Discover
- Click on "Log in" in the upper right corner.
- Username: Power School ID # (lunch number)
- Password: birthdate (ex. May 21, 2009 would be 05212009)

Books are often the starting point for great movies. Click here for a list of some books that have all been turned into movies. You can check out most of these books using your student ID number and birthday in Destiny Discover or the NC Kids Digital Library.
