Franklin 411
Summer Issue - August 20, 2023
A Word From Mrs. Loor
Is it just me or has this been the fastest summer on record?! My family and I have enjoyed a lovely week at the beach, my kids have been in various camps here and there, and we've been hitting the pool as often as we can. And as you can see in the picture, I went ahead and donated 14 inches of my hair to Wigs for Kids. There's very little I won't do for our children, even give them the literal hair off my head! I hope you and your family have been getting the rest and relaxation that you deserve as well.
We all know nothing ever stays the same so we had to say good-bye to some of our staff from last year, but we are excited to welcome new members to our Franklin family. I know that you will make them feel as welcome as you made me feel when I first came to Summit.
Here are our new staff members:
1st grade - Ms. Kaitlyn Ng
4th grade - Mrs. Andrea Baykir
5th grade - Mrs. Michelle DeCastro
5th grade - Mrs. Rachel Kane
Art - Ms. Allison White
Orchestra - Mr. Robert Anderson
(although new to Franklin, Mr. Anderson has been with Summit for many years)
Learning Workshop - Mrs. Justyna Fisler
(filling in while Mrs. Barrows is out on leave)
School psychologist - Ms. Crystal Williams
(shared between Brayton and Washington Schools)
Our theme this year will mirror the district theme, "Everyone. By Name. By Strength. By Story." I look forward to talking to you more about what this will look like at Franklin School during Back to School Night on September 13th.
Please continue reading below for important information regarding the beginning of the school year. In the meanwhile, enjoy the last few weeks of summer! I know that I will!
I'll see you on Tuesday, September 5th! School begins at 8:15 AM and ends at 3:00 PM.
With Warmest Regards,
Mrs. Loor

Genesis Parent Access
Please know that the Franklin teachers, staff and I have put careful thought and consideration into the placement of your child. Every effort was made to ensure that your child was placed in a learning environment that they would thrive in.
Supplies and Forms
We know that back-to-school is synonymous with school supplies and paperwork. Please note that the majority of the papers you will need to complete can be found in Genesis under the “Forms” tab.
You can find school supply lists on the PTO website.
From the Nurse's Office
