WRA Architect's Jeff Miller presented to the CISD Board on the newest updates from the 2022 Bond project.

4.B. Discussion of ESSER Updates

Julie Meek, the CISD Executive Director of Special Programs, presented to the CISD Board of Trustees on the use of ESSER funds.

4.C. Discussion of Handbooks

NaTosha Harris, the Director of Student Services, presented to the CISD Board of Trustees on updates to the 22-23 CISD Student Handbook, brought on by an update of the Texas Association of School Boards handbook.

6.A. Discussion of Location of Historical Marker

The Board received information on possible future sites for a historical marker commemorating the history of Community ISD, which will be unveiled in the Fall 2022 semester.

6.B. Discussion of Civil On-Site GMP #4 for Elementary #4

Patrick Farr presented to the CISD Board of Trustees on the Civil Package for Elementary #4.

6.C. Discussion of Final Completion of Roderick Elementary

Patrick Farr presented to the CISD Board of Trustees on the Final Completion of Roderick Elementary School.

7.A. Consent Agenda

The Board, by unanimous vote, approved the consent agenda items including previous meeting minutes and financial reports.

7.B. Action Items

7.B.1. Possible Approval of Elementary School #4 Architectural and Foundation Package (GMP#3)

The Board, by unanimous vote, approved GMP #3 - Architectural and Foundation Package - for CISD Elementary #4.

7.B.2. Possible Approval of UT On-Ramps

The Board, by unanimous vote, approved a renewal of the University of Texas On-Ramps program at Community High School.

7.B.3. NorTex Glass and Mirror Contract

The Board, by unanimous vote, approved a contract with NorTex Glass and Mirror to install anti-intrusion film on the interior windows of classrooms, the kitchen, the library, and the office at Community High School.

7.B.4. Discussion and Possible Approval of a Resolution for SB9

The Board, by unanimous vote, approved the proposed possible resolution for SB9 to grant SHAC the ability to make a recommendation on curriculum materials and to include instruction on the Prevention of Child Abuse, Family Violence, Dating Violence, and Sex Trafficking.

7.B.5. Discussion and Possible Approval of Elementary #4 Alpha Material Testing Proposal

The Board, by unanimous vote, approved the materials testing for Elementary #4.

7.B.6. Consider Approval of a Resolution Regarding the Purchase of Real Property consisting of approximately eighty (80) acres, more or less, ABS A0923 Charles Todd Survey, Tract 5, described as Collin County Central Appraisal District Property ID No. 2656953, Collin County, Texas.

The Board, by unanimous vote, approved a resolution to purchase 80 acres of land for future facilities.

7.B.7. Discussion and Possible Approval of Assistant Principals

The Board, by unanimous vote, approved the hiring of Mr. Roderick King as an assistant principal at NeSmith Elementary, and of Mr. Josh Glossen as an assistant principal at Community High School.
Big picture
Mr. Roderick King, a 28-year veteran of K-12 Education, was recommended by NeSmith Elementary Principal Stacey Kluttz to be a new assistant principal at the school. Currently, Mr. King is an assistant principal at Rowlett Elementary in Garland ISD, and has spent 18 years as an administrator. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Speech and Communications from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff and a Masters of Education from Texas A&M University-Commerce. He also holds a Principal Certification and Elementary Self-Contained (1-6).
Big picture

Mr. Josh Glossen, a 17-year veteran of K-12 education, was recommended by CHS principal Chuck Ryan for the open assistant principal position at CHS. Most recently Mr. Glossen served in Royse City ISD, but has also worked in Forney, Longview, Marshall, Katy,Ingram, Somerset, Medina Valley, Wylie, Caldwell and Rockdale ISDs, including two years as an administrator. He has a Bachelors of Science from Texas A&M-Kingsville, and a Masters of Science from Texas A&M. Mr. Glossen also holds Principal, Social Studies 9-12, and Special Education EC-12 certifications.

9.A. Consideration and Possible Action Concerning Level 3 Employee Grievance

The Board partially granted a grievance to an employee and recommended additional training for a board member.
