PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Dear Bonny Slope Families,
Welcome to the 2022-23 school year! We are eager to welcome our students and families back to school!
We’ll have many opportunities to connect in the coming weeks, starting with our Playground Playdate on Saturday, August 27th and continuing with our Meet the Teacher on Thursday, September 1st. Our school calendar also includes Back to School Night on September 13th and Volunteer Orientation on the 19th and 20th. You can view our school calendar on our website and in the ParentSquare app.
We are also eager to welcome volunteers back into our building this year. All volunteers must be cleared through the BSD Volunteer Management System, which includes a background check and verification of COVID-19 vaccination status. Once you are approved in the system, you will have access to volunteer opportunities in our school. You can learn more about volunteering at our Volunteer Orientation on September 19th and 20th.
Families will receive welcome messages from their teachers on Wednesday, August 31st. If you do not receive a message or are unsure who your child’s teacher is by September 1st, please call our office. All students and families are invited to meet their teacher and drop off school supplies on Thursday, September 1st (see details below).
Betty and I look forward to meeting many of you in the coming weeks and anticipate an amazing school year!
Best,
Cary Meier
Principal

Counselor's Corner
Over the last six years, I have had the pleasure and privilege of watching hundreds of children grow and develop and reach many milestones here at Bonny Slope. Just this last school year, I was able to see my first group of Kinder students, complete 5th grade and will now start a new adventure in middle school. I feel I am extremely lucky to have worked for such a long period of time in the same community. A community that has shown so much support to my colleagues and myself. For that, I thank you. Although I will miss the students dearly, I have decided to make a change to another school within the Beaverton School District. I will still be available by email tiffany_rodgers@beaverton.k12.or.us if you need to reach out, but I will make sure the incoming counselor has all of the information they need to have a productive school year as well. Once again, I am honored to have worked with you and your amazing children. To those incoming families I have never met, you are in great hands. ❤️
Tiffany Rodgers

Medication at School
If your student will need medications at school, prescription or over-the-counter, parents need to bring those to school and fill out a medication Authorization form. You can stop by our school office during Meet Your Teacher night with your medication and fill out our authorization form. You can find more information on medication requirements on our district website:

COVID-19 Protocols
We are pleased that COVID-19 cases are declining in Oregon; however, we must remain vigilant as the virus is still widespread throughout the state. Masking is optional. If your student tests positive, please call our office to let us know.
Students who test positive are required to isolate at home for at least 5 days before returning to school. Isolation may end after 5 days if the student is fever free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medicine and other symptoms have improved. It's recommended that students should wear a well-fitting mask around others at home and in public, including at school, for 5 additional days (Day 6-10) after the end of the required 5-day isolation period. Those who are unable to wear a properly fitted mask, are advised to stay home on days 6-10 before returning to school.
You can read more on our district website about available testing as well as future updates.
