Dear Families,
First and foremost, my favorite part of this year has been having more in person events and parents back in the building. Get ready, as we just met a listed about a dozen events that we are looking to roll out very soon.
Most importantly, we are in desperate need of your free and reduced lunch forms. Some might ask, "Why, everyone gets free breakfast and lunch?" However, this is not guaranteed forever. These forms also help our school and your individual student get much, much more. For example these forms are used to determine who receives:
- Free music lesson
- Free instrument rentals
- Scholarships for camps
- Private grants
- Federal Title I grant money
We will be asking families to send in their forms and resending copies to return to us no later than Friday, October 28, 2022.
The cafeteria will start selling snacks for grades 2-5. These are items that are NOT a part of the free breakfast and lunch program. Students may buy a bag of chips for $1.00 and bottled water for $.75. Students can bring cash to purchase or money can be put into your child's my school bucks account. If you have not done so already, it is easy to register for your MySchoolBucks account, which gives you consistent access to our meal program. Families can fund their account, making payments anytime, anywhere from mobile phone or computer. Answers to frequently asked questions can be found on the MySchoolBucks website.

From the Advanced Learning Program
Greenwich is returning to the Pre-COVID best practice of giving all Grade 2 students the Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) in October in advance of ALP Enrichment placement. Because these abilities are closely related to an individual’s success in school in virtually all subjects, data gathered from the CogAT is included as one aspect of the multiple measures which help the staff make decisions regarding students’ instructional needs.
The assessment will be given between October 24 and November 4. Scores will be made available to parents on or before November 11.
More information regarding the CoGAT Assessment is available here.
There will also be a parent information session on November 15, 2022. We will send the details closer to the date.

Birthday Policy Part II
Parents are welcome to attend birthday celebrations.
Please see the GPS district regulation regarding birthday celebrations
"In regards to parent participation in birthday celebrations, the policy states, "Although parents may attend such celebrations, it is strongly encouraged that parents drop off nonfood celebration items at the main office prior to the start of the school day, avoiding any disturbance to classroom instruction. Parents must adhere to the 10 minute limit for their birthday celebration visitation due to the impact extending this time would have on instructional time."
