NEW - Remote Conferencing
While potential state funding for virtual learning is still pending approval in the Texas Legislative Second Called Special Session, the Texas Education Agency is allowing “Remote Conferencing”. Remote Conferencing is not the same as virtual learning.
Remote Conferencing allows a student to work remotely from home in 10-day increments, with a maximum of 20 days for the school year, without being counted absent, provided certain requirements are met.
Per TEA, requirements that must be met for a student to participate in Remote Conferencing:
- The student is unable to attend school because of a temporary medical condition. The temporary medical condition must be documented by a physician and include a statement that the student is to remain confined to their home or a hospital, or
- The student has tested positive for a communicable condition listed in 25 TAC §97.7 (including COVID), or
- The student has been identified as having been in close contact with COVID-19.
Students who meet these requirements are not required to participate in Remote Conferencing. It is optional.
Remote Conferencing in Azle ISD began on Wednesday, September 1, 2021.
Remote Conferencing allows a student to be marked present if they meet the daily instructional requirements. This means that if all conditions are met, the student will be marked present for the school day. Remote Conferencing will be available for eligible students in grades PreK-12. Special services will not be provided during this time.
Remote Conferencing must be synchronous instruction, meaning the online facilitator and the student must be face-to-face via Zoom meeting format, for a total of 2 to 4 hours depending on the student’s grade level. Remote Conferencing cannot be asynchronous. For additional details, visit www.azleisd.net/RemoteConferencing.
On days a student participates in Remote Conferencing, the student may not take part in extracurricular on-campus activities, including but not limited to UIL sanctioned activities and practices and/or all after-school activities.
Remote Conferencing provides academic support while helping to avoid:
- Truancy.
- Make-up hours.
- Possibly not gaining credit due to the 90% attendance rule.
Daily Procedures:
Morning Drop Off:
Doors will open at 7:20am. Parents are asked to drop off students in the parent drop area (front parking lot in the lane closest to the building) 7:20-7:45. If you choose to park and walk your child to the front doors, please park on top of the hill and walk your student all the way to the front porch area. Eagle Heights staff will be outside waiting to greet students and make sure that they enter the building. There are also staff in the foyer daily to greet students and make sure that they know where to go to get to class.
The school day begins at 7:45. This is when breakfast ends and instruction begins. If your child plans to eat breakfast in the classroom, please make sure that they are here early enough to eat before the 7:45 tardy bell. Students will be counted tardy after 7:45am. Parents are required to sign in all students that are tardy in the office.
Afternoon Pick Up:
School dismissal is at 3:15pm. If students are checked out early for an appointment, it must be before 3pm. Checking out early (even at 3pm) affects student perfect attendance and star student eligibility.
If you need to change how your child is going home, this must be submitted prior to noon.
Parent pick-up will be located in both lanes of the front driveway 3:15-3:30 daily. (Because of this, if you visit our campus after 2:30pm, please park on top of the hill so that your vehicle does not get blocked in by the parent pick-up line.) Before you pull into the driveway, please have your parent pick-up tag hanging from your rearview mirror. Students will be called out to the sidewalk to wait for an adult to load them into your car. We ask that all parents/guardians remain in your vehicle throughout the parent pick-up line to keep it running smoothly. If you do not have your school issued parent pick-up car tag, you will be asked to park and take your ID to the front office to be issued a new one.
Breakfast:
Breakfast is served FREE to all students each morning 7:30-7:45am in their classroom. If your child plans to eat breakfast at school, please have them here early enough to finish eating by 7:45 when instruction begins.
Lunch with Your Student:
*Currently, Azle ISD is not allowing lunchtime visitors due to increased COVID-19 numbers.*
At some point when this restriction is lifted, you will be welcome to eat lunch with your student. Make sure to check in through the office and get a visitor’s badge. Please sit at the parent table on the stage with your student. You may bring in outside food, but only for you and your student. No other students may eat with you at the parent table. Due to limited seating or special events, the campus is closed to lunch visitors on various days throughout the school year. These dates will be communicated with our families in advance. Please make sure to get your student back in line with their class to return to instruction on time.
This school year, all students will receive FREE lunch. At times there may be extra snacks or ice cream available to purchase. Students will have to have money on their account to be able to purchase these extras.
Visitors to Campus:
Campus doors will remain locked throughout the school day, and visitors are buzzed in from outside the main office. Inside the office, visitors will need to present an ID to receive a visitor’s badge that must be worn while in the building. Please return your visitor’s badge to the front office as you leave campus so that you can be signed out through our visitor tracking system. We encourage all visitors to wear a mask while on campus visiting.
Volunteering:
We love and appreciate our volunteers! If you want to help make copies or volunteer for events, we encourage you to get in touch with your child's teacher or the Eagle Heights PTO. An Azle ISD approved background check is required for all volunteers on our campus. To protect instruction time, parents and volunteers are asked to go directly to the workroom after obtaining a visitor's badge in the front office. If you have a question for your child's teacher, please send them an email or leave them a message to call you during their conference time. While students are in the classroom, we ask that you understand and respect that the teacher's focus and attention should be on their students. If you would like to meet with your child’s teacher, please contact them to schedule a time to meet in advance.
Attendance:
Attendance is important. Make sure to be on time everyday and stay the entire time. Anytime a student is not in class from 7:45-3:15 a note is required. After three days of absence, a doctor’s note is required.
*Missing just 15 minutes of instruction every day equals 2 weeks of missed learning per year!
Birthdays:
You are welcome to send store bought, pre-packaged snacks/cupcakes to school, so that your student can celebrate their birthday with their classmates. Please do not send any homemade items.
Bus Services
Any parent who wishes to use district bus transportation has to sign up online for the service. This option was available when you went online to re-register for the year and update your proof of residence info. If you did not complete it then, go to the Azle ISD Transportation website and select “2021-2022 Transportation Registration” (on the left-hand side) and follow the directions for New Bus Riders or Returning Bus Riders.
If you have any questions or need assistance, please contact the Azle ISD Transportation Department at (817) 444-1322.
