November is Diabetes Awareness Month: Families are encouraged to lead a healthy lifestyle. Here are five steps your family can follow:
- Be active each day;
- Drink water daily;
- Eat more fruit and vegetables;
- Switch off the screen and be active instead;
- Sleep at least 8 hours each day.
Cold and Flu Season
- This year, the Centers for Disease Control advise everyone 6 months of age and older to get a flu shot during the months of October and November. Discuss with your doctor whether it is appropriate to get a flu shot.
- Getting a good night sleep and eating healthy foods will provide your body with the stamina it needs to get through the day and fight off viruses.
- We can protect and strengthen our own immunity by eating nutritious foods, taking daily walks, sleeping 8 –10 hours a night, reducing stress, and smiling daily.
