Roy Blunt was first elected in 2010 as Senator of Missouri State. He has served a complete total of 6 years and is running for re-election. Blunt earned a masters degree in history from Missouri State University. Blunt was a high school history teacher at Marshfield High School. Also teaching at the Southwest Baptist University where he served as President of the University from 1993-1996. Blunt in addition was a member of the adjunct faculty at Drury University.

Senator Blunt is a member of the Smithsonian Council for American Art and is a Trustee of the State Historical Society of Missouri. He is also a member of the Kennedy Center Board of Trustees.
The citizens of Southwest Missouri strongly elected Senator Blunt seven times to the U.S. House of Representatives. He was elected the Majority Whip earlier in his career than any Member of Congress in eight decades, and he was elected to the Senate leadership during his first year in the Senate.

Blunt also serves on the Senate Appropriations Committee; the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee; and the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence. Senator Blunt is the Chairman of the Senate Rules Committee and Chairman of the Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies.
