8th grade celebration details - VOLUNTEERS NEEDED (all grade level staff and families welcome to volunteer so our 8th grade families can celebrate their students)!
Hello 8th Grade Families!!
8th grade celebration committee has finalized the plans for this year’s festivities!
The 8th grade celebration “Drive-In” will be held on Wednesday June 14 th from 4:30pm – 6:30pm. Families are encouraged to bring their student at any time. The event will take place as follows:
- Students arrive with parents/family in a vehicle and drive through the school bus loop in the Pleasant Valley parking lot first.
- The bus loop will be decorated with balloons and have staff/volunteers there to cheer and congratulate students as they drive past. There will be areas designated for photo opportunities, and families will be encouraged to park in one of the parking spaces before allowing their student to get out to take photos.
- The parent pick-up loop will have designated areas for students to pick up a Prairie High School t-shirt, a bag of goodies and their certificate of completion.
- There will be music playing to create a festive atmosphere. We will have a root beer float / ice cream sundae station for families to enjoy! We are also hoping to have the Prairie High School Falcon mascot and the Pleasant Valley Middle Patriot mascot in attendance for photo ops.
Please take a look at the sign-up page linked HERE. We are looking for some donations for the event as well as some volunteers to help on the day of the event. And congratulations to all the 8th graders! Time to level up!
Thank you,
8th Grade Celebration Committee
Click the Sign-Up Genius link: HERE to navigate to the volunteer sign up page.
It would be great to get some of our lower grade level families/staff to volunteer so families of our 8th grade students are able to enjoy the celebration themselves.

- Footwear should be appropriate to the activity and must be worn at all times, to avoid injury

Notes from the Nurse - end of year medication pick up
Hello PVM families!
We have sent home with our 6th grade students a letter reminding families of upcoming required vaccinations. Please check your student's backpack for this letter if it was not given to you. Please bring proof of vaccination or exemption to our school nurse once they have been received.
With the end of the year approaching we want to remind parents that all medications in school must be picked up by the last day of school, June 16th. Any medication left at the school will have to be disposed of after the last day. Medication can be picked up between the hours of 7:30 AM-3:15 PM M-F. Please keep an eye out for students bringing letters home regarding medication pick-up and medications in school next year.

3 v 3 Ridgefield Hoopfest - June 4th

Clark County Youth Commission - youth advisory board applications, due by June 1st
The Clark County Youth Commission, an official youth advisory board to the Clark County Council, is seeking youth from all walks of life to join its group for the next school year. Please visit the Clark County Youth commission webpage to view information about this wonderful opportunity, click here to navigate to the webpage.
The Youth Commission wants to be even more intentional about reaching out to youth who are currently underrepresented or unrepresented in the group and extend an invitation for those youth to apply to join the board.
It is our hope you will look closely at the extraordinary young people you know, whether they’re in your class or somewhere else around Pleasant Valley Middle School, or in other parts of your community, and ask: Who hasn’t yet had an opportunity to have a leadership role in their community? Who has experienced things their peers haven’t and/or has a unique point of view? Who needs to know their voice is valued? Who are the deep thinkers? Who has a lot to offer? Please considering sharing this opportunity with these young people. The group continuously strives to be more representative of the diversity of youth living in Clark County.
Between now and June 1, we are actively recruiting for Youth Commission members to fill 13 vacancies throughout Clark County:
· All open positions are available for youth who live in Clark County.
· New Leader positions are available for youth with no previous leadership experience.
· We have some positions open to students living in the geographical boundaries of specific school districts as the Youth Commission uses school district boundaries to ensure broad representation of youth from all areas of the county.
More information about the Youth Commission and applications to apply can be found at: Click here to navigate to the Clark County Youth Commission webpage. The application is available in Word, PDF, and Google Forms.

Family and Community Resource Center
Battle Ground Public Schools’ Family and Community Resource Center (FCRC) helps meet the needs of families faced with housing instability and similar economic challenges.
While a main goal of the FCRC is to assist families experiencing housing instability, it can also help connect families with many other types of resources and is intended to respond to the changing needs of the community.
The FCRC is a continuation of the district’s joint efforts with the Battle Ground Education Foundation, an all-volunteer, nonprofit community organization whose purpose is to leverage community resources to help maintain quality education for all students in Battle Ground schools.
The Family Resource Guide is full of contacts to aid families in connecting with agencies who are able to help with a great variety of needs. Please click the link below to view this helpful guide.
