FEBRUARY 22, 2023 - NEWSLETTER
Hello Northpoint Community!
In addition to the snow, we are in the midst of “Panthers for a Purpose Week of Giving.” Tomorrow is a white out day in which kids are invited to wear as much white as possible. How fitting, considering the forecast for a major snowstorm! Friday is a Panther Spirit Day. Please wear Panther gear or blue, white, and red. We’d love to see your photos! There are a lot of other activities to get involved in. Please check them out in the newsletter and thanks for supporting the good work of the Panther Foundation.
Thank you to our families and staff for participating in conference conversation these past weeks. I hope families had a chance to take a look at their student’s learner profile and learn about next steps in learning via their individual learning maps and goal. Our goal for conferences, our ongoing communication and in sharing learner profiles, maps, and report cards, is for parents to have a clear understanding of their child’s progress here at Northpoint. If at any time you have questions, please reach out to your student’s teacher.
We have almost three weeks left in this second trimester and just a few weeks until our spring break. Along with important focus on academics, we will conclude round two of Power Hour, focus on “Read Across America” and our grade 4 students will visit Westwood to learn about their transition to 5th grade next fall. There’s always something to look forward to – including some time in the snow.
Take care,
Judi Kahoun
Principal

Westwood broadcast group bridges learning and community
The results are in! After surveying the entire Westwood Intermediate and Middle School student population Mandarin Orange Chicken was named the favorite lunch choice. The least favorite? Macaroni and Cheese. (Yes, you read that right!)
The survey was a segment included in Westwood’s first-ever Panther News Broadcast. The topic was designed to appeal to the entire community. The broadcast was written, filmed and edited by a group of students who are learning new skills, exploring potential career paths and building community at Westwood.
25 dedicated students are navigating the world of news broadcasting as they develop real skills and create connections school-wide. Read more about their experience and watch the first Panther News Broadcast.
Don’t miss out on “Frozen Jr.” live at the Fine Arts Center

Multiage 3/4 students learn about giving back by participating in a service project
Angie Olson, a parent of a student in Mrs. Lee's class and also volunteers her time working with both of these organizations, took time to talk with the students about where their donations will go. The students were also able to make cards for the children at the orphanage to potentially create pen pals!
