THIS WEEK IN SPORTS

JMS football faced Lago Vista this week. Our 7th and 8th Grade Mixed team won 36-0, 7th Grade A team won 30-0, and 8th Grade A team won 30-6.

The Mixed team fought to get their offense rolling with Owen green and Lee’andre Edwards in the backfield. They found some big yards in the air to Christian Washington. On defense, we struggled to find an answer to the Vikings. Good plays were found with Rylin Williams and Gustavo Barcenas running the show. Stand out players were Rylin Williams, Gustavo Barcenas, Owen Green, and Christian Washington

A-team had some great flashes of offense with Ryan Kumpula finding Carson Hinojosa twice for big yards. Matthew Grimm and Christopher Velasquez stepped up on defense by making the Vikings struggle in the first half of the game. Stand out players were Matthew Grimm, Carson Hinojosa, Tyler Woods, and Christopher Velasquez.

8th grade fought a hard game with the Vikings. Jamari Livsey connected with Brayden Morelock for a touchdown. Ryan Millegan also had several runs along with Jamari for big plays. On defense Derek Amazan had an interception; Jayden Nylin and Judson Stark forced a huge tackle for a loss. Stand outs were Jamari Livsey, Brayden Morelock, Ryan Millegan, Derek Amazan, and Jayden Nylin.

JISD Virtues for November: Service and Teamwork

November is a great month to explore the virtues of Service and Teamwork. Veterans of our military certainly demonstrate these virtues. But there are lots of ways that young people can give back to their communities: volunteering to help an elderly neighbor rake leaves, picking up trash in the park, donating time or money to a charitable organization…click on the link to find 50 ideas for ways kids can give back to the community and make the world a better place.
