Happy February!

It was so great this week to welcome our Prek through 3rd grade students back to DES! We still have some students who remain virtual and after a few hiccups on Monday, the week went well overall. We are looking forward to having our 4th and 5th grade students join us this week on an A/B schedule. Remember A students attend in person on Monday and Tuesday; B students attend on Thursday and Friday. Thank you to everyone who has shared their most updated contact information as this helps us when confirming your child's learning status.

February 10 will be a conference day for grades K-5; Prek conferences will be February 10 and 11. Please reach out to your child's teacher if you would like to have a conference.

For Valentine's Day, students will be allowed to exchange cards. However, we are still unable to have food brought in from outside. Each grade level will communicate with you about when cards should be sent.

Please check out some of the upcoming events outlined below. We are trying to work on planning out the second half of the year so stay tuned as we figure out what we can do in person and what is not permissable. I thank you for your patience as we work through all these changes.

Thank you for your continued support of DES! Sending love and blessings to you and your family!

5th Grade Parent Nights

Are you curious about the transition to middle school? Has your 5th grader transformed into a different person? Are you interested in learning more about the new health curriculum and the other curricula used in 5th grade? Would you like to help plan some kind of special event for our 5th grade Dolphins? If any of these describe you, please plan to join us for monthly meetings to discuss this important time of transition for you and your child.

This year, DES is continuing to support parents and students with the transition to middle school by hosting a series of 5th Grade Parent Nights. On these nights, we will discuss transition in all forms: physical; mental; social media; and emotional (both parents and children!).

Our 5th Grade Parent Nights are tentatively scheduled monthly and for now will be held via Zoom beginning at 6:30 PM. I hope you will join us for all or any of these nights as the topics shared will be dictated by those who attend. Here are the dates planned but are subject to change:

• February 25: 6:30 PM

• March 25: 6:30 PM

• April 22: 6:30 PM

• May 27: 6:30 PM

• June 3: 6:30 PM

• June 16: 5th Grade Celebration (?)

I hope you will join us for one or all of these informative nights!
