Join us for a free mental math workshop where we will cover the following:

- Getting Your Hands Dirty
- Scaling Up and Scaling Down
- Wishful Thinking
- Guesstimation
Topics:
- Mental Addition and Subtraction
- The Close Together Method of Multiplication
- Perfect Square roots and Perfect Cube Roots
- Learning Quick Two-Digit Multiplication
- "What Number" problems
- Basic algebra problems. (one equation with one unknown and two equations with two unknowns
- Base Systems other than the Decimal System (i.e. Base Five or Base Two)
- Percentages and Fractions in Your Head
- Basic Geometry including angle relationships, Pythagorean theorem and much more
This course will take the mystery out of math and will also help you lower your anxiety level when solving math problems. In addition, it will assist you in honing your intuition and give you greater confidence in your mathematical problem solving abilities.
This workshop is open to all middle school male students (6th through the 8th grade). The only thing that is required is registration which you can easily do by filling out the RSVP (Attend) fields below. If you are registering your son make sure to use his first and last name. Of course, you can provide your own email for confirmation. That's all there is to it.
Richard Gosselin is a professor and chairman of the Economics Department at Houston Community College and is also a math tutor at Western Academy and a former algebra teacher there for four years.

The Swift House is owned and operated by the Chaucer Drive Study Center. It is on the SW corner of Greenbriar just three blocks south of University Blvd.
