Moving Ahead Beyond June 30...

As previously shared, Governor Mills announced that Maine's State of Civil Emergency will end on June 30, 2021. All requirements, including the face covering requirement for indoors as well as physical distancing as it relates to Maine schools, will also end on June 30.

As of July 1, masks will be a personal choice for everyone. The CDC, continues to strongly recommend masks for those who have not yet been vaccinated. If your child is accessing summer programs, please take time to speak with your child so they understand what your individual expectations are.

Remote Meals Available During Summer Months

The Nutrition team would like to let all parents/guardians know that remote meals will continue to be available throughout the summer, with no gap in services. We will be providing up to 7 days of breakfast and lunch meals each week. All orders can be picked up weekly on Wednesdays at the Scarborough High School between 8:00am-6:00pm. As always, these meals are available to all children 18 and under, and the child is not required to be enrolled in a Scarborough school to participate. Please continue to pre-order your remote meal orders through the Nutrislice app, or email Brenda Franklin at bfranklin@scarboroughschools.org, or call 207-730-4700 if you forgot to pre-order the meals for the week and would still like to pick up.

If you need any assistance with the Nutrislice application or have any questions, please contact Brenda Franklin at BFranklin@scarboroughschools.org.

Loads of fun happening at the Scarborough Public Library this summer! There's something for all ages. Be sure to check it out. Contact the SPL for further details or with any questions. And remember, pack that book when you head to the beach!

Summer Student Program Planning is Underway

Scarborough Public Schools is planning to offer summer learning academies for eligible students, pending sufficient staffing, transportation, and our ability to adhere to health and safety protocols. Please understand that we will be adhering to Maine CDC's recommendations for summer programming which includes masking, distancing, and having nursing support available. We are leveraging some of our federal dollars from ESSER 3 to do so. Invitations to apply will be extended to those students and families within the next week or so. While we have deadlines for applications, the sooner applications arrive the better able we will be to offer the academies.

Elementary School Academy focusing on addressing unfinished learning in math and literacy

Middle School Summer Academy focusing on social and emotional aspects of returning to onsite learning in the fall

High School Summer Academy focused on credit recovery in the areas of English, Math, and Social Studies

All academies will run 4 mornings a week roughly between July 12 and August 5. Other opportunities, including remote, are being explored. Additional information will be made available if we are able to offer more options for summer learning.

Fully Remote Preparedness Plans

Linked here, you will find an overview to Scarborough Public Schools Fully Remote Preparedness Plan, which was shared with the School Board at their December 3, 2020 meeting. Although our goal is to maintain in person learning to the greatest extent possible, there needs to be adequate staffing to facilitate in person learning.

Health & Safety

Please make sure you review the UPDATED Student Health Self Assessment questions EVERY DAY before sending your child off to school.

TOGETHER, we can make our schools as safe as possible!
