School Safety
Important components of school safety at Litchfield Elementary School for students, families, and staff:
Students and families utilize designated crosswalks and avoid walking through moving traffic or pick up lines
Bike and Scooters are walked along sidewalks on school property.
Drivers stop prior to crosswalks when children are present and wait for the crossing guard to signal cars to move through
School gates are closed and locked during school hours
All classroom doors are locked at all times
All visitors and/or volunteers must check in and out through the front office
The school has the authority to not allow visitors on campus at their discretion
Visitors/volunteers must be let in through locked doors, there is a door bell
After volunteer applies and is approved, volunteer opportunities must be pre-arranged with the classroom teacher and communicated to the front office prior to volunteering
Evacuation/fire drills completed once per month
Lockdown drills completed with Avondale Police Department at least 2 times per year
Bus evacuation drills completed at least 2 times per year
Staff participate in safety protocols and training throughout the school year
Please be mindful of the speed limit around campus during school hours. There are many students and families that walk and bike to school, always be on the lookout for them.
First Lockdown Drill ~ Avondale Police Department
We are also excited to share that the Avondale Police Department will soon have an office on our campus. They will be present throughout the school day and available for any situation that may arise. We are hoping to welcome them with a few goodies in their office. Below are a few ideas. Items can be dropped off in our front office.
- Bottle Water
- Gaterade
- Coffee Pods
- Bagged Snacks
