Message from your Proud Interim Principal
Dear Parents,
It has been another outstanding week at Parsons! The students have been working hard in all their classes and the teachers have presented amazing lessons. We also had several students turn in Reflections entries this week which is a PTA sponsored program. Parsons students have historically done well in the Reflections competition, and I expect the same result this year. All students had their picture taken this week and this picture will be used in the yearbook. Today, many of the students traveled to the park on the Party Bus as part of the PTA fundraiser reward! Congratulations to these students! I also know that many students are looking forward to the “Pie in the Face” reward from the fundraiser that will take place on Monday afternoon. If your child earned this level reward, he/she will receive a pass on Monday with the correct time to go outside. I think the majority choice of who to “pie” has been Ms Tolar!
Fall Break takes place next Thursday (October 6), Friday (October 7) and Monday (October 10). I know that teachers and students are ready for a few days away from school. I hope everyone enjoys time with family and friends throughout the break. The school building and front office will be closed during this time period.
Early Release Days and parent conferences are happening soon. Teachers will send out conference information on Tuesday, October 11th. Please sign up for a conference day and time based on teacher instructions. We are hosting in person conferences this year, but you do have the option to request a virtual conference if you prefer. Early Release dates are October 19th and 20th.
It is almost time to give feedback on school calendar options for the 2023-2024 school year. GCPS will send out notifications, and I will send more information as well. When I send information through email, there will be a link for you to follow in order to provide feedback. Thank you in advance for taking time to review the calendar options. Your feedback is important to Dr. Watts, School Board Members, and the Parsons staff.
Enjoy the Weekend!
Proud Interim Principal,
Mrs. Wanda F Law

Hispanic Heritage Month
As a school community, we celebrate our diversity and the impact we have on building cultural competency in our community. In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, we invite you to reflect on the power of our differences and the impact we can make when we unite with shared values and purpose. The national theme, Esperanza: A Celebration of Hispanic Heritage and Hope, challenges us to envision a great future knowing that our hope and resilience can lead us there. Each year, Americans observe National Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15, by celebrating the achievements and contributions of Hispanic Americans. The observation started in 1968 as Hispanic Heritage Week under President Lyndon Johnson and was expanded by President Ronald Reagan in 1988 to cover a 30-day period starting on September 15 and ending on October 15. It was enacted into law on August 17, 1988. The day of September 15 is significant because it is the anniversary of independence for the Latin American countries of Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua. In addition, Mexico and Chile celebrate their independence days on September 16 and September 18. In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, we will students share on the morning announcements the achievements and acknowledgements of Hispanic Americans who have contributed to our Nation. We will also have students share about the Hispanic culture and points of pride about their culture.
Parent Teacher Conferences & Early Release
Teachers will be sending out their conference sign-up information on Tuesday, October 11th. Be on the lookout for an email and conference letter with your teacher's sign-up code.
Conferences will take place the week of Oct 17th-21st. Early Release Conference Days are Wednesday, Oct. 19th & Thursday, Oct. 20th. Students will be dismissed at 12:50 pm so that teachers can hold conferences. Conferences will be held in person with the option of Zoom (by parent request).
Once you receive your conference code from your teacher then you can use the help guide below if you need assistance signing up for a conference.
