Happy Autumn! Another great week at Symmes Elementary! The children had so much fun making their Pinwheels for Peace and decorating our walking track! It was also the first week of Symmes Steppers and the weather was wonderful for our first day of walking for our students!

PICTURE DAY AT SYMMES - Tuesday, Sept. 27

Your child/ren should have brought home a Picture Day flyer last week. Our picture day for Symmes is Tuesday, September 27. You can order your child's pictures on line at using code: JC506260Q0 or send in payment in the envelope provided with your child on or before picture day. Please remember to send in exact change if sending in cash, as the photographers cannot make change. Checks should be made payable to Lifetouch.

The 4th Grade students will have a 4th grade group picture taken at 9:45 am. Parents should have received information about that picture this week.

Symmes Annual Clothing Drive

Please Help with the Symmes Clothing Drive
Starting September 26 through October 14th

Please donate your gently used FALL and WINTER clothing. All sizes- infant through adult would be greatly appreciated. Winter coats and shoes would be wonderful too! These clothes are used to help our own school community.

We will start collecting clothes on Monday, September 26-Friday, October 14th. A collection bin will be located in the school lobby for you to drop clothes off in.

We will start sorting clothes on October 17th through October 20th. I am in need of a few volunteers to help sort and bag the clothes, should you be interested in helping please email LaToya Goshen at or call (513) 207-9385.

On Saturday, October 1, Sycamore Junior High School PTO will host their annual Aviator Flight Fest. The day begins with a 5K run/walk and a 10K run at 8:00am. The race begins and ends at Sycamore Junior High School. First Watch of Harper's will be providing breakfast at the finish line for all participants, and Athleta Cincinnati sponsors a swag bag for all racers including goodies from our amazing sponsors. Each registrant also receives a long sleeve race t-shirt.

At 9:30 the fun moves inside for our festival. Games, food, prizes, music, raffle tickets, and an incredible bid-n-buy auction are some of the great activities you'll find appealing for families.

Final Forms Reminder

We still have alot of families who have not gone on-line to complete the Final Forms. If you have not completed your forms, you will receive a letter with instructions on how to complete this process. The Emergency Medical Authorazation (EMA) form MUST be completed as soon as possible! If you do not have access to a computer, please send a note to your child's teacher and we will send hard copies to you. Thank you for your cooperation!


The Symmes PTO is putting together the annual Symmes Student Directory. Because of some changes in district policy, we are unable to pull information from official school databases. Therefore, we are asking all families that would like to be included in the Symmes Student Directory to complete an informational form on line.

The Directory is a valuable tool for arranging playdates, contacting other parents, call for missing homework assignments, sending birthday party invitations, etc.

Symmes Carnival

One of the really cool branches of the Symmes Carnival is the "Great Gatherings." These are fantastic get-togethers or activities hosted by Symmes parents outside of the normal school routine. You can attend for the fun experience and, in turn, help raise money for out great school.

Traditionally, you would sign up for a Great Gathering the night of carnival but this year the carnival committee is doing it a little different. Instead of waiting until the end of the school year to be a part of a Great Gathering, we want you to have the chance to get to know other Symmes families throughout the year. To create this opportunity we are offering a monthly Great Gathering.

They may be held at night, during the day, or on weekends. Some may be just for moms or dads, for couples only, or may even be grade or gender specific. Cost will vary with the type of experience created by each gathering, but we are sure there will be something for everyone!

Beginning October 1st, flyers will be coming home with upcoming events that may be of interest to you. All you have to do to sign up in send in your form and your payment in your child's backpack. an email confirmation will be sent to you once it has been received.

Space may be limited, so please check your family calendar and sign up quickly!

Once you have signed up for the event, you will have filled a spot, therefore we will be unable to issue any refunds. Sorry, no exceptions.

Be on the lookout for the first one! We are sure you will enjoy it!

Please remember to complete or update your Final Forms. The Emergency Medical Authorization Form MUST be filled out and signed before your child can go on any field trips! If you have not done so, click here.


Please remember to pay your school fees. ($40.00 per child) This site also applies to paying lunch fees and full day kindergarten fees. You can do this through Parent Portal.
