Sycamore Junior High's Parent Communication

SEPTEMBER 16, 2022

Happy September!

Hey Aves!

Thank you all for a fantastic week. Open House was a huge success and having our building open felt really good! We were able to connect with many families & students. Please complete the Open House feedback form. Your feedback will help us grow and serve you better. Our team also spent more time in classrooms this week, learning alongside of all! (Mrs. Schunk learned how to count in French!! Very cool.) We also checked out the Cross Country Invitational, in which many of our runners had personal records!

Next week brings our MAP testing, which will capture some data and ensure the growth of students. On Tuesday and Wednesday, please be sure to eat a good breakfast and get a good night's sleep. However, keep in mind that testing only represents one moment in time and may not fully reflect all your hard work and dedication to learning. Information about MAP testing is also below.

Lastly, thank you all for engaging with our school community this year. We have had a smooth start, and we appreciate the feedback, emails, and overall positivity coming from our students/families. THANK YOU for helping to guide us!!

Happy First Bump Friday! We hope to see you at the Junior High Band night at Friday night football. Have a great weekend. We look forward to your return on Monday.

-Mrs. Schunk, Mr. Meyer, Mr. Cole

MAP Testing!

On Tuesday and Wednesday (9/20-21) the students will undertake the first round of MAP testing for Reading and Math. This will occur again in January and May.

Students will go to their 1st bell classes on both days, but some students will test in alternative locations.

Here is how you can help!

  • They will need their school issued Chromebook fully charged and updated. If they are in Flex Bell Friday or Monday, the update should happen at that time.

  • Encourage them to do their best!

  • Let them know that this is just one moment in time and that the score will only be used to help them be as successful as possible.

The schedule will be different on Monday and Tuesday→CLICK HERE to preview it!
