Park View Newsletter
Mrs. Wallerstedt. 01/07/22
Welcome to 2022!
At this time of year, January through March, learning is at its deepest and most complex. Teachers have reviewed and built on knowledge students came in with from the previous year during the fall of 2021. Now teachers will expand on the fall learning, differentiating where needed, to develop that solid foundation of the grade level learning expectations. So please prioritize this time by helping your children stay on track with their reading minutes and homework at home. Communicate with your child's teacher if something is too difficult to manage at home. The Park View teachers are always willing to help and support you. Think about what you discovered about your child, as a learner, at the November Parent/Teacher Conferences as that will also help you support your child. Learning is a team sport and teachers need you too.
Kane County Cougars - Ozzie's Reading Club Challenge . . . . . .
Here are the dates to complete the running of the bases:
1st Base = January 10th through January 21st
2nd Base = January 24th through February 4th
3rd Base = February 7th through February 18th
Home Plate = February 21st - March 4th
Each grade level will have a developmentally appropriate reading challenge for each of the bases that will be listed on the informational sheet. Good Luck to all of our Panthers. I know they can do it!!
Critical Reminders for Families.
In order to keep our schools open, families must keep their children home when sick. It is of the utmost importance that you do not send your child to school while awaiting test results or if they are suspected of having COVID-19.
We also want to take a moment and remind you of the following:
Schools are REQUIRED to follow previous quarantine guidelines despite recent CDC updates to quarantine and isolation periods.
If your child is not fully vaccinated, he/she must quarantine following an exposure and he/she is unable to return with just a negative test.
If your child goes home sick or is symptomatic, proof of negative test results must be provided to your school’s health office prior to return.
You can find all of the isolation and quarantine requirements schools must follow, per health guidance, by clicking here.
Wintertime at Park View
To play in the snow students must have boots, snow pants, a winter coat, gloves-mittens, and a hood-hat. Without all of that, a student must remain on the blacktop. Please remember to put your child's initials on all their outerwear so we can return the outerwear to your child if it is lost.
It is also recommended that you put an extra pair of socks in your child's backpack just in case the socks they are wearing get wet. We want our Panthers to be warm and dry!!
Bus Zone Reminder
Please do not stop and pick-up your child in the bus zone. We need to keep that area clear for our busses. It starts before the crosswalk and ends after the driveway on the North end of the school (by the baseball field). To keep traffic moving and our students safe, we need everyone to adhere to this. Below is a picture from the fall that shows where the bus zone begins and the yellow curb that runs all the way past the North driveway. Thank you for adhering to this and keeping our campus safe.

Illinois Rental Program
Many families have experienced financial hardship during the COVID-19 pandemic. For those who have fallen behind on rent payments, the Illinois Rental Assistance Program may be able to help keep them in their homes.
The Illinois Rental Payment Program provides financial assistance for rent to income-eligible Illinois renters and their landlords who have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Illinois renters may be eligible for up to $25,000 and 18 months of emergency rental payments under the program. This is a grant that does NOT have to be repaid.
