Arrival
Keeping students safe is our highest priority. We expect over 250 students will arrive by car each day-- a tremendous amount in a small area. We need your help keeping our kids safe and being good neighbors. We encourage you to carpool with other families as much as possible.
Car Riders
Please help us ensure the safety of your students by using the designated loop. And, please stay in your car until greeted by the staff.
Staff members will greet students 15 minutes prior to and until the start of the school day.
For your child’s safety, please do not drop students off until staff supervision has arrived.
Students must be dropped off at the curb in front of the school.
Help us be good neighbors. As you await arrival on 188th, please keep all of the driveways clear.
If you arrive after the start of school, please park and walk your child to the office to check in.
Buses
Bus Stop Lookup Tool is the most up-to-date information is on the SBLSD Transportation page. Please follow this link to find the latest information on bus routes.
Dismissal
We need your help, patience & support in keeping traffic moving on the roads near campus and making sure we complete dismissal by 3:25 PM. To ensure a safe and efficient dismissal, we ask that you follow the recommended procedures:
Please have your ID ready and Car Tag during dismissal so that we can ensure the safety of our students.
Car Pick Up: Please do not arrive on campus before 2:50 pm. Please follow the suggested pick-up times based on your Dismissal tag number. This staggered release should allow fewer cars to arrive on campus at the same time and keep traffic flowing.
- Car tags 0-90 arrive on campus between 2:50-3:10
Car tags 91-181 get in line at 3:15
Car tags 152+ and any one-off requests get in line at 3:20 PM
Front Gate Walker: Parents who will be picking their students up via the front gate should wait right inside the front gate (to the Left) until one of our staff members walks the students to you. Please have your ID or car tag ready.
Back Gate Walker: Parents who will be picking their students up via the back gate will need to walk to the gate to pick up their students. Please have your ID or car tag ready.
Bus Riders: If you need help finding your student's bus route or arrival times, please visit bus routes for more information.
School Schedule
Tuesday through Friday Schedule: The office opens at 7:30 AM. School opens to students at 8:10 AM. Classes begin at 8:25 AM. Please drop your students off no earlier than 8:10 AM.
Dismissal begins at 3:10pm.
School Supplies
If you haven't yet made your donation for school supplies, you can still send your donation in the following ways: Make an online payment, call the office to make your donation over the phone or send it with your student to school (ask them to drop it off in the office or give it to their teacher).
In addition to the supplies provided through the $25 donation, all students should be prepared for school with the following items.
- backpack
- earbuds/headphones
- refillable water bottle
- lunchbox (if needed)
Changes to School Meal Prices
This school year, there are some important changes to meal prices. A national school meal waiver that provided free meals for all students due to the pandemic expired over the summer. This means that meals are no longer free for everyone.
We encourage families who may be eligible to apply for free meals. Applications can be found at sumnersd.org/meals. Applications are confidential. To receive these benefits, families can fill out a Consent to Share Eligibility form here.
Families may want to check their student meal account balances before school starts. You are able to add funds to your student's account by going to https://www.sumnersd.org/Page/3244 to make online payments or by calling the Child Nutrition Office at (253) 891-6450 to add money over the phone with a debit or credit card.
See below for meal prices for the 2022-23 school year:
Family Assistance
Would a weekend food bag for your student be helpful? Please send an email to the school counselor at courtney_arbaugh@sumnersd.org to assist you with getting support.
Medication at School
If your child has a health condition that requires treatment or medication at school, written permission from the parent/guardian and a healthcare provider must be provided before medications can be administered at school. Renewal of written permission must be completed at the beginning of each school year and whenever the health care provider adjusts a medication. You may visit the school nurse at BTS or click here to learn more.
