Thanks to Coach Joseph Watson of Woodlands Lacrosse who came to Powell this week to teach our 2nd-4th graders about Lacrosse. Coach Joe coaches the Woodlands High School team. Woodlands Lacrosse also has a youth program. If your child came home interested in trying Lacrosse you can email Joseph at email@example.com!
Different organizations reach out to Powell Elementary to assist our students and families with items for the holidays. Please let us know if you would welcome assistance and would be willing for Mrs. Nixon, our counselor, to call or email you if an organization volunteers to donate this year. In the past we have had organizations offer to donate food, clothing, and toys to our families in need. If you are interested in receiving assistance, please email Mrs. Nixon at firstname.lastname@example.org or call her at 936-709-1700.
Nominations for Gifted & Talented Testing
Nominations are now open for Conroe Independent School District Gifted and Talented program. Although the testing will not take place until February, nominations are accepted at this time. Nominations can be made by the parents and/or teachers. It is recommended that parents of 2nd grade students wait until CogAT scores have arrived before nominating their child because CogAT scores are part of the GT assessment. If you are interested in nominating your child, you may want to discuss this with your child’s teacher at conferences. Nominations will be accepted through December 18. You may request a nomination form from Erin Anderson at email@example.com. You can also find the nomination form and other GT information on the CISD GT homepage.
