Thrilled
I was thrilled that Mr. Buck recommended, and the Board of School Trustees appointed Valerie as the next principal of Maple Ridge. There is no one I would rather see take over a building I have loved since being named principal in October of 2001. She will be fantastic! The assistant principal's position will be posted today. Valerie will choose a group to help her interview and choose her new teammate.
Summative Performance Conferences
We will be conducting Summative Performance conferences next week. This is a chance to review where you are in the evaluation process. There is additional information that will be added after the conference. We add in the school grade, which will probably not be out until September as well as your SLO results. Most of you chose fall to spring NWEA test results which will be placed in SFS when the testing is completed.
If you have any artifacts like call logs or PLC notes, I would suggest you add those to your portfolio.
Please sign up for your conference time on the sheet below.

End of Year
As we get close to the end of school, many accounting type of activities will be asked of you. Thank you for making sure those items are correct. Jaymee has been re-inventorying the books in the bookstore so we have exact numbers. Please make sure you accurately count and describe what you have so she has an accurate picture of our current status so she can place orders.
Valerie's Vision
Heaven on Earth
I waited until the last minute to write my vision. But maybe that’s a good thing.
Last night, I was named the next Principal at Maple Ridge Elementary. Even typing that feels a little funny. One of the things that I spoke about while interviewing was my Maple Ridge family.
Sometimes our family can be strong and supportive, other times the people closest to us can hurt us the most. In any relationship, whether is your work family or home family the key to a positive experience is cooperation and understanding. Things don’t always have to go our way- sometimes things don’t even go as planned, regardless of the preparation involved.
Making a motto of sticking by each other through good times and bad keeps everyone grounded, even in times of chaos.
I’m pretty sure Mr. Lord knew what he was doing when he hired all of us, creating this strong family. I’m also pretty sure his retirement will leave an empty spot in all of our hearts that will be hard to fill.
“A family filled with love and cooperation for each other, is a manifestation of heaven on earth.” -Shriram Sharma Acharya
Diaper Drive
The United Way is holding a diaper drive. The plan is to put the diapers we collect on the Read and Feed trailer that services Southern Madison County. So far we have collected a little over 500 diapers. it would be great to reach a thousand.
The collection box is in the teacher's lounge.
