Parent Portal is a web-based service that gives parents the ability to access student data. Parents use a confidential personal identification number and password to view their student’s grades, attendance, assignments, and other information. If you have not yet established your account please contact Ms.Carrera at pcarrera@lonestartx.org.

Attendance – This page displays a record of your student’s attendance entries for the current school year. Teachers and Ms. Carrera generate the attendance entries. Entries of concern can be discussed with the office. If a student is absent a note to excuse the absences must be submitted within 48-hours of the absence.

Assignments - Assignments are graded in a timely manner such as homework, quizzes, tests, projects, etc. Once a teacher defines, organizes, and scores the class assignment, the student data will be viewable to Parent Portal users. There may be times when you do not see scores for a particular assignment. Please allow a few days for the teacher to enter data.

A note from the Nurse's office:

Any medication including over the counter medication should accompany a prescription from the physician and a form filled out in the school office.

This includes cough drops, Tylenol, Ibuprofen, and cough syrup, etc.

Please do not send medication to school with your child without the required documentation.

Without the required documentation the medicine will not be given and you may be required to come to the school to administer it or to pick up your child.

Thank you for your cooperation

BOX Tops for education

Easy Ways to Help LSLA Earn “Free” Money!

Clip Boxtops for Education – Each boxtop brought in is worth 10 cents to the school.

Thank you to all our families for your continued support. All “free” money that is given to our school goes to support our students in many ways. It is used for supplies, programming, field trips, and much more.

Visit BTFE.com for a list of participating products and additional ways to earn.

Please keep your child's carpool number/tag on your dashboard until you have your child in the car. It is necessary for Coach Hurtado to see the number so she can call for the student when you pull close to pick up. We appreciate your help!

Currently, all parents have been given their permanent carpool tags. If your student was absent on Thursday, October 4th they will have their new carpool tags in their folder at dismissal on Tuesday, October 9th.

In order for a student to be dismissed, it is important that the person in the vehicle has the newly updated carpool tag. With no carpool tag, we are NOT allowed to dismiss the student endless prior arrangements were made with the LSLA Main Office.

We are happy to share with you that our menu now includes daily Dairy Free (DF) options. We are excited to be able to serve the dietary needs of all students and give every child a delicious, healthy meal!

Our October Menu, with the new options, is now available for ordering. Click on the link above to order.

Big picture

Message from the Main Office:

Do you want to know why fall is the best time of the year? It’s because we have settled into our classrooms, our teachers are really showing off their creativity, and kids are really diving into learning. This time of year is when crisp fresh air inspires new ideas and new curiosities. It’s a great time to begin discovering new, indoor places to explore. It’s a great time to visit the library and find that new adventure to read about.

The students will begin to visit the LSLA Library on Tuesdays & Thursdays. The students will visit the library for 30 minutes on both occasions. They will have the opportunity to check-out books and will receive a library book lesson.

This is also the time of the year when a lot of us get sick. We are noticing a big number of students out sick. Please keep your student home if they have a fever. Also, talk with kids about washing their hands often and covering their coughing/sneezing. If students are not feeling well have them drink lots of fluids and rest. Make sure they are eating healthy with fruits and vegetables. Kids can only give their best when they feel their best.

An important reminder to all parents, please drive slowly around LSLA. Please adhere to all traffic and safety signs. It is better for us to keep all safe than for us to be in a rush around our students.

If your child is tardy, you are required to walk them into the school and sign them in.

Please try to send your students healthy snacks to school. We noticed a lot of sugary snacks and we are trying to help our students keep their energies up throughout the day.

October 10th- Fall Pictures (Kindergarten, 1st Grade, 5th Grade)

October 11th- Fall Pictures (2nd Grade, 3rd Grade, 4th Grade)

If you have siblings and would like them photographed together they must come dressed for picture day the day of the oldest sibling. For example, if you have a 1st grade and 4th-grade student they would both come dressed for picture day on October 11th. On this day the photographers will do individual pictures of both children but also include a few sibling pictures.

Please wear pink on Friday’s to support Breast Cancer Awareness. Students are welcome to wear a pink top with jeans every Friday in the month of October.
