Message from the Principal's Office
What a whirlwind of a week it has been for our State, and especially for K-12 education as a whole. Recently, Governor Evers and the Department of Health Services extended the Safer at Home Order until May 26, 2020, and confirmed that public and private K-12 schools shall remain closed for pupil instruction and extracurricular activities for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year. This has likely left many of you with a multitude of questions regarding where we will go from here. That being said, I wanted to remind you all again of our two top priorities at CHS: (1) to safeguard the physical and emotional safety of our students; and (2) to support ALL students to learn to their greatest potential. Although much remains uncertain at this time, please rest assured that these two priorities will continue to be at the forefront of all decision-making moving forward.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your patience and understanding as we navigate these uncharted waters. Conversations have been ongoing, and I would imagine that many decisions will be made in the coming days and weeks that will shape the way education will look for the students in the Clinton Community School District. As always, we will communicate any changes as soon as possible.
Stay strong, Cougars!

Teacher Appreciation Week
Message from Mrs. Gile, Director of Academics & Innovation
Teacher Appreciation Week is May 4th-8th this year and I’d like to promote an opportunity for students and families to create appreciation cards for teachers (or other school staff members).
Over the years I have had many opportunities to hear from many students, parents, guardians, and alumni about the impact that a teacher or staff member had on them or their child. Oftentimes educators get caught up in the planning, grading, teaching, quickly switching to alternative learning, etc. and don’t take the time to step back and see all the good they are doing. This one week a year is not enough, but it is a wonderful time to show our Clinton Community School District teachers and staff how they may have positively affected your life or the lives of your children.
I have done this for the past three years for the high school staff and we got wonderful responses AND school staff were very appreciative. While there are a plethora of ways to say thank you, this year I'm promoting two different ways to show appreciation for the staff at CCSD (retired or current).
Option 1-Blank Appreciation Card:: You can complete an appreciation card completely on your own. It is a google form where parents, guardians, students, etc. can write your own personal message to any school staff member (not just teachers).
Option 2--Template Appreciation Card: You can complete a pre-filled template appreciation card. It is a google form where parents, guardians, students, etc. can write a note for a school staff member telling him or her how much you appreciate what he or she has done for you and/or your children.
The school staff will receive these notes of appreciation during Teacher Appreciation Week. Please feel free to share these links out with others and encourage individuals to complete one or more cards of appreciation for school staff!!

UW System to Make Applying to UW Universities Easier this Fall
In response to recent educational disruptions, UW universities are taking the following steps to provide even greater access for students:
- An immediate reduction of the $50 per university undergraduate application fee to $25 for Summer 2020 and beyond (with the exception of UW-Madison).
- Making application fee waivers available for students experiencing financial hardship due to COVID-19. Students who need a fee waiver simply need to contact the UW university to which they are applying and request one.
- Acceptance of unofficial transcripts for admission consideration and additional flexibilities in submitting other application materials.
- Holding students harmless for circumstances out of their control such as the cancellation of ACT or SAT testing dates, or a high school or college moving to a pass-fail grading system.
- Taking campus visit programs online and providing virtual tours.
