Principal Point
What is integrity?
People with integrity tell the truth and act in a sincere way. They treat people equally and take responsibility for their own feelings and actions. Integrity is more than just being honest; it's acting ethically, consistently, and in a trustworthy manner.
Integrity is sometimes summed up as "doing the right thing, even when no one is looking." It's an apt motto for kids in the digital age, when everything from cheating with cell phones to plagiarizing to cyberbullying anonymously can be done with no witnesses. Integrity secures the whole foundation of our interconnected relationships -- both online and off.
It's natural for kids to have setbacks as they build their character strengths. Be patient and forgiving, as integrity is strengthened over time in various challenging situations.

With only three weeks until Talent Show auditions, it is time to start preparing your act! Here are some helpful details...
Audition dates: March 12th and 13th – Auditions will be held in the music room after school. Times will be assigned and sent home on March 8th after all sign-up forms are in. Look for your sign-up form on March 1st in the Howler. *Please do not try-out unless you will be here for both shows on Friday, March 15th. This is the early release day before Spring Break. The show will finish just after noon.
The Show: The judges must narrow the hours of auditions down to a one hour show balanced with all ages and talents. The show will be presented for the student body on March 15th. Parents of performers will be invited!
Helpful Audition Hints: (acts not following these guidelines will not be considered for the show)
MUSIC ♫ must be...
1. On a CD
2. Set to play on an MP3 player or phone
3. Sent to gina.spengler@boiseschools.org with your child’s name.
* Downloading your song will prevent any interference issues. Try not to rely on the internet to stream the music.
Time limit is 3 minutes.
Costumes are encouraged but must meet school dress codes.
Act must be presented to judges exactly as it would be in the show.
Be prepared that you may not make it! It does not mean you are not talented! The judges have a difficult job, please be nice to them. ♥
No lip-syncing or singing along with the vocals in a recording! If you sing, please have an instrumental background, piano accompaniment, or sing without music. You can purchase downloads on Amazon, or ITunes – search for your song name + “Karaoke”.
Dancers may use recorded music but lyrics and moves must be appropriate for school. This is not always easy! Bring lyric sheet to Mrs. Cullen ahead of time if there are any concerns. The judges will preview them for you.
Be creative! We love skits, dances, singers, instruments, jokes, story telling, magic, etc. Make your act unique and fun!
HOLIDAY PROGRAM DVDs AVAILABLE
Families of 1st-3rd grade students, there are a few remaining copies of the Holiday Program DVD in the office. Please consider a $15 donation. You can pick those up from the office anytime. Make checks payable to Shadow Hills Elementary.
