- The staff of the Sequoyah Scribe student newspaper will meet on Wednesday from 2:45 to 3:30 pm. All staff members are required to attend. The editorial team will meet until 5:15 pm.

JSMS Jam...
Walk of the Warrior
Our second annual Walk of the Warrior night for rising 6th graders will be on Monday, March 13, from 5:30-7:30. This will be a family orientation for students and families. The night will begin with an informational session in the auditorium, followed by a time when students and families may enter the atrium where booths will be set up with information on academics, athletics, extracurricular activities and much more!
Yearbook Orders
Last day to purchase a yearbook is March 24th.
Natural Helpers Fundraiser!
The Natural Helpers will be having a fundraiser at Barberitos on Thursday, March 16, from 4:00-9:00. Plan on eating dinner at Barberitos on March 16th to support our Natural Helpers!
Spring Pictures
SPRING PICTURE DAY is Thursday, March 23.
We will be sending additional information, but below is some basic information.
Pictures will be made on PRE-PAY basis ONLY.
--Parents can purchase online (prior to picture day) OR
--Send payment with student on picture day
An 8th Grade Group Picture will also be made on March 23 in the Big Gym prior to students leaving for their trip to DB.

Spring Sports Pictures will be made on March 23 as well.
The Golf Team and Softball Team will have their pictures made during Tribe Time due to a match/game immediately following school.
The Baseball Team and Track Team will have their pictures made immediately following school.
Kingsport City Schools Accepting Zoning and Tuition Applications for 2017-2018 School Year
KINGSPORT, Tenn. – Kingsport City Schools will begin accepting Zoning and Tuition Applications for students in grades K–12 for the 2017-2018 school year beginning Wednesday, March 1, 2017.
Parents who would like to request their child attend a different city school instead of one for which their child is zoned, must apply for a zoning exception. Parents of students who are not legal residents of the City of Kingsport must submit a tuition application to attend Kingsport City Schools. Parents or legal guardians must apply annually for their child’s tuition and zoning status, even if they attended Kingsport City Schools during the preceding school year.
Applications can be found online at k12k.com by clicking here – 2017-18 Zoning and Tuition Application or if need be, in-person at the KCS Administrative Support Center, 400 Clinchfield Street, second floor, downtown Kingsport. Application deadline is April 30, 2017.

Free Sports Physicals
More info to come, but the date for free sports physicals is Wednesday, May 24 at 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm at the ETSU Family Physicians Building at 102 E Ravine Street.

Warrior Whoop! (celebrations and recognitions)
*On Monday (3/6), four JSMS students participated in the National History Day Competition at Tusculum College. All four of the students placed 1st in their category. The students and the their categories are:
Emma True, Fathima Shaikh – Group Exhibit – Equalizing the Playing Field: Taking a Stand in Women’s Soccer.
John Ryan – Research paper – The Pullman Strike of 1894, Taking a Stand for Workers.
Gabe Tipton – Individual Performance – Kings Mountain, Taking a Stand Against the British. Also a $50 award winner for the best project on Tennessee History.
