L.T.Memo
Dear All,
It has been a good technological start to the year and thankyou for your enthusiasm and engagement in the discussion on Digital Citizenship last week. Thanks also to all our new colleagues for the time they committed during induction week to work with me and get user accounts running and to get to know our technical, registers and network set up here at JSL.
This year, the LTMemo will appear as and when there is project information, technology tips or further resources that I would like you to know about. It will also include some more of our #Student Voice videos throughout the year. [As the flyer is online, please scroll down to the bottom to view all articles as the memo will run off the edge of your viewing pane.]

Oxfordowl Resources @ Oxford University Press
The wonderful Oxfordowl website with free readers for IWB and up to 250 eBooks [now, also 'tablet ready'] has been expanded over the summer to include curriculum and reading level links for teachers, and a range of useful information.
It now also requires a login, so I have set up a JSL account which you can all access by logging on with:

New Signage: Student Logons & Shared PC Areas
The Student Supervisors are busy laminating new signs for shared areas and your classrooms. Each of the signs * show the relevant User IDs and Passwords for each year group and incorporates the 1-2-3 rule for looking after our shared areas.
I am reminding each class about these rules during their 1st ICT lessons this term, and would like to ask you to remind, support and encourage both students and each other to follow the rules that will enable spaces and equipment to be left ready for the next user.
Please factor in time at the end of any session using technology/equipment to allow enough time to complete the 1-2-3. [* hover on gallery images to see full view]
'Log a Task'
Thankyou for being brilliant at 'Log a Task' this year - the IS Department tell me that the start of year showed a noticeable increase in clear task logging which has 'helped them to help us', and increase the speed at which they can respond to issues. Please keep on logging !
Netbooks Updated
Last week we ran all system updates on JSL netbooks, so that the full set is 'classroom ready' and there should not be hold-ups due to updates running when students log on. Thankyou 6MR for helping.
JSL Digital Leader Applications 2013-14
Applications for Digital Leaders [DLers] will take place in Week4, after the Student Council elections have taken place.
Who can apply ?
Students in Y4-6 and Y3 - feel free to volunteer any individuals that you feel could benefit from an opportunity to assist us with technology around school.
Y1& 2 will begin a project for DLers to help organise the PC Pods this year.
Not sure what a Digital Leader does? Here's a clip of Israh talking about her DLer experience in Y3 & 4.
