Author's Visit
We are so excited about our 4th grade author's visit tomorrow!
Bryan Smith will talk to students in 4th grade about the writing process. If your child would like an autographed book, please complete the form attached to this newsletter. Mr. Smith will autograph these prior to coming to the school, and the staff will pass them out after the presentation. The first book- “Is There an App For That?” is the one that will be covered in this workshop with the students. This visit is intended to help develop thinking and writing skills for our students.
It is not too late to order books! The order form is attached to this email and can be completed tonight.
Valentine's Day
For the party, your child may bring a decorated box or container to school. Please make sure that their name is on the box and that there is an opening for Valentines.
Please send these decorated boxes to school with your child on Thursday, February 14th. (Please don’t send the box in early because we don’t have a lot of space to store the boxes.) The boxes will be used to collect the Valentine’s Day cards. Your child will bring the boxes along with their cards home that afternoon.
As the party gets closer, homeroom teachers will be sending home a list of the names of students in their class so that your child may address their Valentines.
Additionally, the fourth grade teachers will host a Friendship Party during school on the same day. During the party, the kids will open Valentine’s cards and play a few games.
Thanks for all of your help with making this a special holiday celebration for the boys and girls.
Six Flags Reading Challenge
Don’t forget that students can earn a free ticket to Six Flags by turning in their Six Flags Reading Log (attached here) by the March 1st deadline. Students who have logged 6 hours (360 minutes) of reading time will receive their ticket in May.
Please contact Mrs. Edwards at paige.edwards@pisd.edu with any questions.
