KERBY NEWSLETTER
October 4, 2019
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Welcome to October! We had a great first month of school. It has been great reconnecting with previous students and getting to know all the new students at Kerby. I look forward to seeing you all at Conferences next week.
My move date to Mexico has been finalized, and my last day at Kerby will be on October 25th. Once the new prinicpal is identified, I will work with him/her for the last week before my last day to ensure a smooth transition into Kerby.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Sincerely,
Dr. Delgado

HAUNTED GARAGE AND 4/5 GRADE CHOIR UPDATE
Kerby Choir Families! Mark Your Calendars: Your choir student has been invited to sing with the elementary school choirs from around GP at the North vs. South Football game on Oct. 18. Kickoff is at 7pm and we will sing America, the Beautiful as a combined elementary choir prior to the game starting. More information will be sent home as we get closer to the event. We hope to see you there!
Please note that the Kerby Haunted Garage Night and the GPS vs. GPN football games are the same night! I have been assured that the Haunted Garage tickets are good for any night and as long as the tickets are purchased from Kerby ahead of time, our school will get credit regardless of the night the tickets are used.
PHYSICAL EDUCATION NEWSLETTER
Your child and I meet every four school days for 45 minutes per class (unless on Mondays/PLC days-40 minutes). Active participation is essential! Please remind your child to bring his/her gym shoes to P.E. class. Hiking boots, sandals, crocks and dress shoes are not permitted. Also, for girls, please do not wear dresses on P.E. days. If your child has
some medical condition in which he or she cannot participate, i.e. broken
arm, asthma acting up, etc…, please send a note to my attention.
The P.E. program that we utilize throughout the year is based on the
Grosse Pointe Public Schools P.E. Curriculum and stresses important
qualities in a child such as: physical fitness/healthy bodies, cooperation,
teamwork, self-control, safety, sportsmanship and personal best. Keeping
these important attributes in mind, your child will be actively participating
in the following units:
- volleyball gymnastics parachute basketball
- obstacle course tennis floor hockey jump roping
- aerobics bowling team games track and field
- cooperatives golf lacrosse badminton
- fitness football baseball soccer
- The President’s Physical Fitness Challenge- (1 mile Run/Walk)
All of these exciting units are offered to each Kerby student. Each of these
units will be modified due to the various skill levels of each student and
grade. Furthermore, in each of these units, your child will be evaluated in
their knowledge, work habits, skills and active participation.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns at
