A Message from the Director
TVA Families,
Most of us have grown up in America. All we have ever known is the American way of life. We take so much for granted, like our right to free speech, worship as we choose, to a freed education. We take for granted that we can walk into a grocery store and buy food, or turn on the television at night and be entertained. We don't stop to think about how fortunate we are to have clean running water in our homes, or heat to keep us warm in winter. These are the freedoms and privileges that many around the world do not enjoy.
On this the 21st anniversary of September 11, 2001 I am reminded not only of the events that took place on that day, but also how we came back to school the next day. I am reminded that the world we live in now with technology and teaching did not exist. The world of post 9/11 saw a boom in cell phone sales. Now, years later kids are going school on cell phones and tablets that were not even invented yet. And yet here we are exercising our freedom to education through new an innovative ways. These core freedoms are precious to us.
We are grateful for those who continue on any level to fight for and maintain the freedoms that were challenged 21 years ago but still persist in ways never seen. Thank you for being a part of who we each and every week. Nothing will stop us when we work together!
Sincerely,
Mr. Kevin Zeck & the TVA Staff
Each week we will showcase TVA Students of the Week. Students are chosen based on their online performance with staying on pace and making good academic progress. We are excited to celebrate our student successes and we hope this helps you also connect in some ways as well.
Liam McCormick - TVA Student of the Week
Liam McCormick is a 7th grade student in TVA joining TVA for the first time just this fall. When asked why TVA, Liam stated, "I chose TVA to be spend quality time with my family." Liam and his family have already taken advantage of the flexibility of TVA to work on a vacation proving his reason already. After high school Liam plans to join the Army to serve his county. In free time he enjoys spending time outdoors and hiking and discovery new waterfalls. While only a middle school student, Liam is part of the graduating class of 2028.
