Fall Back
Bruin Press November 5, 2019 Edition
MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
November is off to a busy start. The newsletter is a great way to learn more about school events, happenings, and all that our school has to offer families. Looking ahead, we have the Magically Fit Performance for all students, an Open House for prospective families, the H&S Chili Cook Off, Book Fair, All School Mass, Thanksgiving Play, Fall Classroom Parties, and Grandparents & Friendsgiving Breakfast. Look for more information to come on Grade Level Parent Meetings to discuss classroom and school wide initiatives as well as visit with the administrative team. We are planning times to meet with you, our parents, to discuss ways to enhance the parent and student experience as well as share academic goals for the year and beyond. We continue to offer innovative programs (STEM & Robotics), electives (Theater & Band), afterschool programs (Shakespeare Dallas, Flag Club, and Chess) and are continuously working on ways to grow and develop our student offerings.
As always, thank you for your support. There is nothing more powerful than your positive praise and outward commitment to our school community. I appreciate all the ways you are spreading the good news about our school. The faculty and staff are so proud to partner with you as we prepare students to develop their God given talents and experience success through learning, faith, and service.
Thank you and Go Bruins!
Laurie Senecal

FUN FACTS:
What is the most interesting place to which you have travelled? In 2013, I was able to go World Youth Day to see Pope Francis in Rio de Janerio, Brazil with over 3 million youth from all over the world. Before the gathering, we traveled from Argentina by bus and were able to see the Iguazu Falls, the largest waterfall system in the world. We also visited the San Ignacio Mini, the 17th century Jesuit mission in Argentina. Both the Iguazu Falls and the San Ignacio Mini were examples of God’s incredible world in our world through creation and through the message of the Gospel.
What is your favorite book or movie and why? My favorite sports movie is "Hoosiers," and "Remember the Titans!" I also love the movie "Temple Grandin" because it is an inspirational story that shows how everyone can make a difference by just being whom God created him or her to be.
What is your favorite memory from elementary or middle school? My favorite memory from my elementary school was when we had a school wide reading challenge. If we read over 1,000 books by a certain deadline, our school principal would have lunch with and kiss a pig! The best part was that the pig was my very own pet potbelly pig named Charlotte! It was a great day that even attracted the local news to report it!
