LIFT Weekly Update

All about the Student Ministry at First Baptist Covington.

Hey, everybody!

The busyness of fall is upon us! We aren't trying to add to your already busy schedules, but we do have some really great stuff coming up!

PRAYER BREAKFAST is on as usual this week at 7 or 8am. Then, Wednesday we'll have a really special LIFT with FREE MUSIC GIVEAWAYS, and the most painful part of "The End of the Beginning." Check out last week's message below with follow-up questions.

The Middle School Mystery Retreat is coming up Nov 7-9, and signups are now open HERE! Students don't get to know what is going to happen, they just show up and trust that they will have a great time! It's only $100 for a very full weekend, so register today! Also, parents, feel free to email me if you would like to know the details of what we'll be doing.

This Sunday is Vision Sunday at our church. Join us as Cody celebrates what God has done in our church and casts a vision for our future! Then, you certainly will want to bring the whole family to our annual CHURCH PICNIC at 4pm at the FFA Camp. We'll have Team Olympics, free recreation time, and dinner together with our church family for just $3/person (paid on site).

Finally, remember that we have a Missions Project on Saturday Oct. 11th. We'll head over to our church missions partner Woodland Hills Church in Atlanta to assist them in hosting a very large Fall Festival for their community. We'll provide popcorn, games, candy, and more for that day. We will leave at 1pm and return to the church around 7pm that day. There is no cost involved, but it would be great if you could bring a bag of candy or two to pass out. Families are welcome!

The LIFT Supper Schedule is below, and our first one for the year is next week. Many of you signed up at our Parent Meeting. Let me know if you'd like to be added to an open spot!

Follow-Up Questions for Parents

· Read Matthew 26:69-75.

· Why is it so surprising that Peter would do this?

· Why do you think he did it? What was he afraid of?

· Do you think you would have done the same if you had been a disciple?

· In what ways do we all still deny Jesus?

· Did this ruin Peter’s relationship with Jesus? (No! He continued on to be one of the most powerful leaders in the early church!)

· How does this event make what Jesus did even more amazing?
