If you have not completed your YQCA and are showing livestock, you must get this done by the 15th! Go to yqca.org and complete the online test. When done you need to either print and bring in the certificate or email it to otoe-county@unl.edu. You have until June 17th by 4:30 p.m. to get this to us since the 15th is on a Saturday. The directions for YQCA are listed below, if you have questions please call the office at 402-269-2301.

Last Call for Animal ID's!

We realize this is a Saturday, but the date stays the same. State 4-H entries are due at 11:59 p.m. on June 15. We will accept COUNTY ONLY entries on Monday, June 17 until 4:30 p.m. If you are showing poultry, dogs, companion animals, rabbits, swine, dairy goats, meat goats, sheep, breeding beef, bucket calves, or feeder calves this applies to you! If you are showing market beef, you have already completed this at weigh-in!

Swine Showmanship Workshop

There is still room if you would like to attend the Swine Showmanship Workshop this Saturday, June 15th from 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. Clover kids will have their own session from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. This workshop will be held at the O.K. Pavilion on the Otoe County Fairgrounds. The workshop is free. Please wear close-toed shoes in order to participate. Call the Extension Office at 402-269-2301 to register!

Fishing Casting Target Boards Available!

If you would like to make a fishing target, 4 ft. by 4 ft. boards are available at the Extension Office for $5.00, also available are sample rules. If you are in the 4-H Projects Fishing for Adventure or Wildlife Conservation these may be of interest to you!

Rabbit Tattoos

If your rabbit needs its tattoo you can have it done the night of the Rabbit Showmanship clinic. Please call the Extension Office to sign up for this clinic ahead of time.

Looking for Volunteers!

We are looking for some older 4-H'ers who are willing to help with summer workshops! If you would like to help out, let us know by calling the office or sending us an email.

Nebraska 4-H Foundation Flood Relief Fund

The Nebraska 4-H Foundation has created a Flood Relief Fund to support children, youth and families impacted by the recent storms and floods.

There is another fund that may be of interest to your 4-H families and friends. The 4-H’ers Helping 4-H’ers Fund offers a giving opportunity to 4-H clubs and councils as well as individuals and businesses to support 4-H youth and families.

  • June 15- Animal ID's DUE: this includes Breeding Beef, Feeder Calves, Bucket Calves, Companion Animal, Dogs, Dairy & Meat Goats, Poultry, Rabbits, Sheep, and Swine

- All 4-H Exhibitors showing Beef, Goats, Poultry, Rabbits, Sheep or Swine are required to complete YQCA.

  • July 15- All animal entries for Otoe County Fair are DUE: this includes Beef, Companion Animals, Dogs, Dairy & Meat Goats, Horses, Meat Goats, Poultry, Rabbits, Sheep and Swine. These entry sheets will also be used to stall livestock at the Otoe County Fair.
