Fall 2017
Welcome Back!
Hope you had a fantastic summer and are looking forward to a great year ahead! We have received several program requests from our liaisons already and the variety of choices out there is impressive.
This year we have taken on a few goals we would like to share with you.
- Send out a Quarterly Newsletter
- Redesign the Arts in Ed Directory
- Promote the new Arts in Education Standards
The purpose of this quarterly newsletter is to strengthen communications within our network of arts in education contacts and to highlight artists that consistently deliver a quality program to our schools. We would also like the newsletter to provide valuable updates and reminders to make your work easier. I encourage everyone to send us information you would like to read more about.
The current Arts in Education Directory was a fantastic resource at one time, however it has become outdated and not user friendly. It may be a huge undertaking, however we are committed to work with the Capital Region BOCES and QUESTAR on developing a new website that will be a functional tool. The directory will have all updated content on vendors including prices, contact information and clear program descriptions. This will be an efficient resource for our liaisons and schools to browse through using a variety of search criteria such as cost, location, art standard or curriculum.
We are excited to announce the New Arts Standards have been approved! Visit the NYSED.org webpage for more information.

It is important to consider several factors when booking a vendor for you school. Though most of our liaisons know what qualifies as and Arts in Education Program, there are other programs that schools request that won't fit those guidelines. In some cases, these other programs may be considered Exploratory Enrichment.
The Exploratory Enrichment program facilitates the integration of curriculum based activities into instruction supporting the NYS Learning Standards. Areas covered include:
- Mathematics
- Science
- Technology
- Social Studies
- Character Education
Exploratory Enrichment Programs are a great way to earn State Aid back for you school! When two districts book the same EE Program in the same school year, you both qualify for State Aid back. We are committed to helping you find these matching programs and routinely update a report on our webpage that shows all the EE Programs booked with every district we service.
