Why Financial Wellness?
Did You Know?
All employees of the Wausau School District are eligible for membership with the Marathon County Employees Credit Union (MCECU). There are many benefits of membership with a credit union, including a community focus with personalized customer service, lower fees and loan rates, and a variety of services available.
The Winter Newsletter provided by MCECU reinforces these ideas while also sharing personal stories, reminding members that their favorite bank tellers and loan officers are their neighbors right here in the community.
Membership is not only open to all employees of the District, but also to any of your immediate family members, including:
Domestic Partners
Spouse, former spouse, parent, child, or a person related by blood or adoption to a member
A person currently or formerly residing in a place of abode with a member
A person with whom a member has a child in common
A person who provides in-home or community care for a member
As an added perk, when you refer a new member to MCECU, both you and the new member will receive $10 in your/their account as a thank you.
Let's Talk About Direct Deposit
Wausau School District requires employees be paid by direct deposit because...
- It's convenient. You do not have to go to the bank to cash your check.
- It's sustainable. All that paper and ink adds up.
- It's safe. No more lost, stolen, or misplaced checks.
- It's quick and reliable. Your pay will be deposited even when you are on vacation, sick, or out of town.
- It can help you manage your money. You can have your paycheck deposited directly into more than one account (such as a checking and a savings account).
If you change financial institutions and need to change your Direct Deposit, please complete a new Direct Deposit form. This form may also be found on the District website under Staff, Operational Services, Direct Deposit Form. Due to the sensitive data on the form, do not email a completed form. Return forms to Payroll at Longfellow Administration Center. Please attach a voided check to the form. The first payroll check you receive after submitting a new Direct Deposit form will be a paper check to allow your new bank accounts to be prenoted for accuracy. The paper check will be mailed to your home address on record with the District.
You can split your pay between any two accounts (ie: checking and savings) within the same financial institution. Adding funds to a savings account is as easy as checking a box. Or, many financial institutions allow you the option of allocating your net check to multiple accounts such as checking, savings, money market, mortgage, personal loans, etc. Contact your financial institution to find out if they have options helpful to you.
If you have any questions, please reach out to the Payroll Department for assistance.
