Message from Dr. Malally
Good morning!
We have just four more days before summer vacation begins for our students. This year has gone by way too fast. It really does seem like the first day of school was just yesterday, and here we are almost 180 days later. I want to thank each and every one of you for helping to contribute to a great year. I am always so proud to be a part of the Condit community, and thankful for the amazing students, staff and families that are a part of it. Below is a list of our spectacular PFA Chairs & their committees members who have done so much for Condit this year, and in some cases, for many years.
Assemblies
Today, we will be recognizing reading with our Library awards. On Tuesday, we will have our 3rd trimester awards assembly, recognizing academic achievement, effort, and citizenship. On Wednesday, we will recognize all of our students for the miles they earned in the 100 Mile Club at our medal ceremony. Finally on Thursday, we will recognize our outgoing 6th graders at their promotion ceremony. School will dismiss at 11:30 for kindergarten and 1:00 PM for grades 1-6 on Thursday, June 13th.
I wish everyone a safe and happy summer!

We are excited to be partnering for our second year with a fun, free, and truly easy fundraiser called Shoparoo! Schools nationwide are already earning hundreds and even thousands every year through Shoparoo and it’s a great opportunity for us to really make a difference this year!
Shoparoo is school fundraising made easy: the free app turns pictures of your everyday shopping receipts into cash donations and sweepstakes entries for our school! Yep, it’s that simple. No more cutting labels, selling door to door, or time-consuming coordinating. All you have to do is shop as you normally do, snap pictures of your receipts with the app, and voila Just shop, snap, earn!
Get started today:
1. Download the free Shoparoo app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store
2. Select our school from the list and start taking pictures of your receipts - shop anywhere, buy anything!
3. You can even select a grade to support and have fun with grade competitions!
There’s no limit to how much money we can raise with Shoparoo - the more supporters, the more we will raise for our school. Schools with just 40 supporters are earning an average of $1,000 every year. That’s free, easy money that we could be fundraising too. Check out shoparoo.com http://www.shoparoo.com/> to learn more about this awesome app!
Thank you for your support!

Student Use of Recording Devices
A student may not use a recording device in a classroom without the permission of the teacher and the site principal. (Education Code § 51512.) It is a misdemeanor to record in a classroom without permission. Parents should be apprised of this code section and told that students do not have permission to record in the classroom.
The statute protects the teacher and also the privacy rights of other students. If another student’s private conversation or (for example) answers to in-class questions is recorded, that would violate their privacy rights. Your BP 5131 (Conduct) incorporates this prohibition: “Any device with camera, video, or voice recording function shall not be used in any manner which infringes on the privacy rights of any other person.”
Also, Penal Code § 632a makes it a crime to record a private conversation without the knowledge and permission of all parties to the conversation. If a student goes around school with a hidden (or obvious) recording device, it could easily capture private conversations between students and adults, between employees, between other students, etc. Unless the student gets permission from all parties to every conversation that might be overheard by the recording device, which would be impossible, he/she is committing a crime every time a conversation is recorded. This Penal Code provision also provides for civil penalties (lawsuit + damages) against the person who does the recording.
Secret recordings are viewed by the Legislature as serious invasions of privacy. The statutes are not mere formalities. As parents, we suggest that you speak with your students regarding the use of a recording device at school, and the serious consequences that can take place if they do.
