Titans United: Shining Through It All

Greetings Benefield Parents-

Thank you for celebrating our staff during Teacher Appreciation Week!

It's hard to believe the 2021-22 school year is almost over. As shared previously, the end-of-the year is filled with celebration and fun. Our Virtual End of Year Awards Ceremony will take place this Wednesday. The award's ceremony is by invitation only. The following students will be recognized at the award's ceremony:

  • A-Honor Roll Principal's Honor: All A's
  • A/B Honor Roll: All A's & B's
  • Citizenship: Titan Kids of Character
  • Most Improved: Most Improved in English/Language Arts, Math, Science, or Social Studies
  • In-Tune Titan - Student Engagement

Our 5th Grade Promotion Ceremony will be held on May 24, at 6:00 pm. We encourage students to wear school-appropriate dress pants and a nice shirt or a school-appropriate length dress and no bare shoulders. Heels are discouraged. Balloons will not be allowed into the building. Masks are strongly recommended in GCPS facilities.

A full list of end of year activities is included below so please, keep reading and visit our school website for updates.

Proud to serve you,

Mrs. Stevens

Counselor's Corner

Hi Titan families!

We are rewarding our 3rd, 4th, and 5th-grade students who were on time and present each day of the Georgia Milestones Assessment with a BINGO Bash and Freeze Pops. Perfect attendance students were invited to the cafeteria for this event and entered a raffle for a chance to win a Chick-Fil-A gift card. The third grade is celebrated this week, and 4th and 5th will participate next week. As always, we encourage all of our students to be READY (present) each day!

Each month, classes with perfect attendance are given a chance to receive Snowie Snow Cones as an attendance reward. Congratulations to April’s attendance winners! The following classes received their snow cones today.

1st - Banks

3rd - Gray

4th - Henry

Family Engagement Tips

Here's a way to make schoolwork a game

Here's a creative way to motivate your child to do schoolwork: On sticky labels, write small rewards your child would like, such as choosing what's for dinner, watching a TV show, or reading an extra book together. Then get a spinner from a board game and apply the labels to it. When your child completes assigned work without being reminded, offer the chance to spin the dial for a reward.

Focus discipline on the Dos, not the Don'ts

When it comes to discipline, it's more effective to tell children what they should do than what they shouldn't. "Please gather up your schoolwork and put it away before dinner" is more likely to get a positive response than "Don't leave your homework all over the table!" That's because it gives your child a chance to do the right thing without any criticism from you.
