A Message from the Principal
November 30, 2020
Dear HFCS Community,
I hope that you all enjoyed the Thanksgiving break! Advent followed Thanksgiving very closely this year and we are now preparing for the coming of the Christ Child! During the first week of Advent we focus on the virtue of Hope. Here are the prayers that we said today during our Monday Morning Prayer as we lit the first candle on our Advent Wreath:
O God, Bless this Advent Wreath.
May it help us prepare to welcome Jesus, Your Son, into our lives.
May the light of His love shine through us.
We believe in you, Lord.
We know that you can help us
to love and respect each other more.
You are our light,
the light that overcomes darkness.
Come, Lord Jesus!
It was my privilege and pleasure to be a part of the National Junior Honor Society induction ceremony on November 19th. I am so proud of our returning NJHS members Drew Hill, Jordan Hill, Sophia Hughes, Chloe McLain, and our new members Carter Smith, David Granado, Jackson Schuster, Rose Morton, and Alexa Gottlieb. Congratulations HFCS NJHS members!
2021-2022 HFCS Uniform Changes
Every year around this time HFCS meets with the Mills Uniform representative about our uniform updates for the following academic year. Here is a short list of changes you can anticipate for 2021-2022.
ALL SCHOOL LOGO POLOS:
· Transition from poly-cotton red logo polos to Dri-Fit red logo polos
o Dri-Fit polos were the parent survey choice
o Poly-cotton logo polos may still be worn next year
o Dri-Fit polos will become available at Mills once the current poly-cotton logo polo stock has been depleted
PK UNIFORMS:
· PK girls will wear a pull up plaid skort and a red logo polo every day
· PK boys will wear navy uniform shorts or pants and red logo polo every day
K-4 GIRLS:
· Transition from Girls’ Leather Saddle Medium Width Shoes to solid white or black athletic shoes
o Based on parent, teacher, and student feedback, the girls’ saddle shoe will no longer be required
o Solid white or solid black athletic shoes will be the new uniform choices
· Possible transition from front-zip jumper to Girls’2-in-1 Plaid Skort for dress day
o There is a possibility that the front-zip jumper may not be available from Mills next year for dress day
o More information will be forthcoming about the availability of the front-zip jumper for next year
5th GRADE
· 5th grade is now considered to be part of Middle School and will follow the Middle School dress code in 2021-2022.
My thanks go out to all the students and parents who made the extra effort to sell Pot O’ Gold Raffle Tickets this past week! Go Hornets!
May you have a light filled first week of Advent,
Ann Walters
