Discoveries, the Science of, Research, and Topics of Study

What is Astrophysics?

Astrophysics is the branch of astronomy that deals with the physical properties of celestial bodies and with the interaction between matter and radiation in the interior of celestial bodies and in interstellar space.

Basically, astrophysics is the study of space and everything inside of it.

Big Questions

Astrophysicists search and search to ultimately find the answer to these major questions:

How do matter, energy, space, and time behave under the extraordinarily diverse conditions of the cosmos?

How did the universe originate and evolve to produce the galaxies, stars, and planets we see today?

What are the characteristics of planetary systems orbiting other stars, and do they harbor life?
