Teacher Update
Hi Families,
With Paul out sick a couple of days last week, it was hard to make time for the kids to contribute to the newsletter. So this is all teacher made. We'll keep it brief and get back to more news from the kids soon.
Follow the curvy road
This is the first time we've seen a kid make and extended design with curves. All other projects have been rectangular so far. We think you'll see from this photo how we think kids are doing important work while "playing" with blocks. It supports the growth of mathematical ideas about angles and symmetry. And of course - there are lessons in creative. Go Zohar, you tried something new!
Building a Puppet Theatre
A LONG time ago the kids asked if we could pick up some shelves off the street during a community walk and reuse them to make a puppet theatre. James, Rapha's dad, came in to help us with designing, measuring and building this week. Thanks, James!
Math
Look at how these kids are matching concrete and pictorial representations of numbers. In both models they are using tens as groups for efficient counting. Want your kids to organize or inventory something at home? Ask them to do it like they've done in this picture.
