Classroom Happenings
ELA: Mrs. Day & Mrs.Goosen
We started reading Refugee for our investigating character unit. The students are getting to know the main characters of the novel while establishing an understanding of the setting. Starting September 1, students will be required to read two novels outside of school during the month. Thank you for your support. If you would like to support our classroom library, please visit our class Amazon Wish List (Day) or Amazon Wish List (Goosen)
Science: Mr. Geringer & Mrs. Oliver
Students participated in our first Engineering Design Challenge of the year: Design a paper airplane that will fly the farthest. Students designed, tested, and redesigned paper airplanes and participated in a single-elimination tournament against their classmates. Ask your student about their paper airplane! We will begin our Space Systems unit on Monday.
Social Studies: Mrs. Goosen & Mr. Landolt
We have started our Foundations unit this week. Students are studying prehistory and are learning how to think like a historian. We finished the week by learning how to evaluate sources. Next week, we will be finishing our foundations unit and prepping for our Geography unit.
