Scenic Park Chinese IMM and ASD Virtual Calvert Learning Program
Do you have a Scenic Park Chinese immersion student who is ASD Virtual and Calvert Learning? If so, there are two options for your student when it comes to participating in the target language, and Calvert learning.
- Your student audits or has access to the teaching tools and activities housed in the Chinese teacher's Canvas classroom. Activities can be completed for practice, however students do not attend the Chinese class, turn in the activities/ assignments, or receive a grade from the Chinese teacher in Science or Social Studies. Science and Social Studies courses will be completed through Calvert Learning. If you choose to return back to our ASD In School program within a year, your student would need to take a Chinese Language proficiency assessment to determine their Chinese Language Level. This is not to "test back in" to the program.
- Your student participates in all Chinese Language classes. They are expected to participate in both synchronous and asynchronous lessons, complete assignments and activities in the Chinese teacher's Canvas classroom and have the option to attend face to face lessons upon returning to in building instruction. Your student receives grades from the Chinese Language teacher and attendance will be taken. This will allow your student to transition easily within the risk models and still have access to the Chinese Immersion material in Canvas. Your child will not have to take the Chinese Language proficiency assessment prior to returning to our ASD In School program if return happens with in one year. Your student would NOT have to participate in the Science and Social Studies courses in Calvert Learning.
We need to know which option you would like so we can enroll your student correctly in Q. Please call Tiffiny or Kim in the front office (742-1650) or e-mail me (rucksdashel_lori@asdk12.org) to let us know what option you choose.
