Middle School Counseling News

From Mrs. Murphy and Ms. Monk

October is Bullying Awareness Month

As the new school year gets underway, I am pleased to share with you a free online bullying prevention and education resource for parents, www.ParentsActNow.com. Created by Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin and supported by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, www.ParentsActNow.com is a one-stop resource featuring short video segments on a variety of bullying topics, including the basics of bullying, how to talk to your child about it, and how to contact your child’s school if bullying has occurred. September 24th is Bullying Awareness Day in Wisconsin.

Parents play a vital role in both preventing and responding to bullying. The more parents know about bullying, the better they will be prepared to have important conversations with their child about this serious issue and become strong partners with you to create a bully-free school.

Sincerely,

-- Carolyn Stanford Taylor, Assistant State Superintendent Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction
