The Inside Scoop

Hello and welcome to 6th grade! I am looking forward to getting to know everyone and, reconnecting with those of you I had in 4th grade! I am excited to be teaching Writing this year.

I am originally from East Texas where I grew up in a very small community named Trinidad. It is located between Athens and Corsicana if you are familiar with either of those towns. I graduated from UT Tyler in 2002 with my Bachelor of Science in Political Science and a minor in Pre-Law. It wasn't long until I realized that politics was not my true passion and I returned to school to get my teacher certification. I enjoy learning ways to become a better teacher. In fact, I have decided to go back to school again, this time to get my Master's Degree in School Counseling. I am excited to learn how to help my students in class academically as well as emotionally.

My Family

My husband, Eric and I have been married for 13 years and have 2 children. Cale is 10 and will be in the 4th grade and my daughter, Carsyn is 7 and will be in 2nd grade. We enjoy doing just about anything outdoors. Hunting, fishing and hiking are just a few of the things we enjoy. This summer, most mornings were spent sitting on our deck to have my coffee. We traveled to Red River, NM, our favorite vacation spot. We enjoyed much cooler temperatures, hiking, and fishing. I enjoy sharing stories about our adventures with my students in class. I try to apply the things we are learning to everyday life and I hope sharing our experiences help me do that.
