Your Weekly BGS PTO News & Happenings
Our Read-a-Thon is the big buzz around school. We're a week in and over 50% of our students have logged on and started reading! We're well on our way to our 100K minute goal. Even more amazing is that even though only 16% have started fundraising, we're almost a 1/3 of the way to our fundraising goal. If each remaining student raises even $5, that's another $1200 toward our goal.
This week, we decorated the school with owls for each child who's logged in. Stickers were awarded for getting their parent's email authorized, for getting a sponsor, and for every 100 minutes read. We'll be awarding more owls and stickers each week. We also awarded BGS Spirit Tags via a random drawing out of every student who began reading.
Next week, 24 students who are reading and 24 students who are reading AND fundraising will be randomly drawn to receive bookmarks. Our Leaderboard at school is updated weekly. Remember that only minutes read during the Oct. 10 - Nov. 10 period count towards the standings.
Keep on reading & raising!

Help Out at the $1-2-3 Clothing Sale
Our $1-2-3 Clothing Sale is this Saturday from 9 AM - 1 PM. We have lots of donations already, but we need to get them organized for the sale. Many hands make light work for us all! Set up will be going on from 9 AM - 2 PM, then again from 4-8 PM on Friday. Donations can still be dropped off during this time.
We URGENTLY need some extra hands during the sale on Saturday between 9-1 PM and afterward to break down the sale (about 1-2 PM). Let us know you can help by signing up for a shift here!
RSVP to the Halloween Hoot
Our Halloween Hoot is almost here! We'd like to know you're coming - just give us a quick headcount by signing up here. Admission is $5 per child / maximum of $15 per family. Children of volunteers attend for FREE!
The Hoot is great fun, but needs your help to run! Our Hoot Sign Up Genius has been updated with some new opportunities to help us make this event success, including donations of candy for our trunk or treat cars. If you can donate some snacks or candy or help us with security, let us know by signing up here.
