History

As a child, Kevin Systrom was really into computers and electronics. He knew from an early age that he wanted to work with computers. Mike Krieger's life was different. He was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil and moved to the U.S.A in 2004 to follow his career path. He and Kevin met at Stanford University.

Milestones

At the end of 2010, Instagram had 1 million registered users.

In 2011, the app had reached 5 million users and built in features to crop & change lighting in photos.

By September of the same year, they reached 10 million users.

Now the use hashtags (#) and facebook bought Instagram.

Why it was started

Both men wanted to start their own business, so they made instagram to do so. Eventually, the app made so much progress that they were able to accept and award.

The most popular hashtags are #love and #selfie

Currently the most popular instagram brands are National Geographic, nike, and 9GAG.

How does it change everyday life?

Instagram is virtual and new. Also, you don't need to keep stocking up your camera roll because on instagram you can take the picture and delete it if you want after you post it. Also, instagram has highlighted celeberties that you can follow too!

Instagram in the future

Both Kevin and Mike have big plans for instagram and it will be a great sharing website for everybody! (Even though it already is!)
