GOALS
Voyager 1 and 2 were designed to take advantage of a rare global order to explore the outer solar system. Voyager 1 targeted Jupiter and Saturn before continuing on to chart the far edges of our solar system.

Both Voyagers carry a gold record containing sounds and images selected to illustrate the of life and culture on Earth.
Voyager 1 is in the process of escaping the solar system at a speed of about 523.6 million km per year, or about 1.4 million km per day.

Launches
Both voyagers were launched at Kennedy Space Center at Cape Canaveral in Florida.Voyager 1 & 2 were launched on a journey to explore the gas giants and beyond. Today, the voyager giants are still going .When ready for launch, the two Voyager crafts were identical to each other, they both weighed 722 kilograms and carried the same instruments including magnetometer, cosmic ray detector, plasma detector, photopolarimeter, infrared interferometer, spectrometer, radiometer, ultraviolet spectrometer, low energy charged particle detector and plasma wave detector.
