"They can only shoot a body, they can not shoot my dreams."

Malala Yousafzai
On July 12th 1997 Malala Yousafzai was born in Mingora, Pakistan in the country's Swatt Valley.
The town remained popular tourist spot for the first few years of her life.

People loved to come to the town because of the annual summer festivals.
Yet, when Taliban started to take control, the area began to change.

When Taliban took total control, girls weren't able to go to school anymore.
Malala's family didn't approve of this way so they sent Malala to school anyway.
At first it was no problem, but then the government got wind of what was going on and suddenly it became a big problem.
Malala is mostly famous for being the youngest person to win the noble peace prize and for getting shot in the head on her way to school.
But Malala is more than that.

She is an idol to all women and girls.
She has an amazing story that will go down in history books forever.
And it all started with a small voice in a quiet world.

Malala went to school at Edgbaston high school.
It was winter break and not many of the girls at her school were very excited for the break because they knew they might never come back to school.
Taliban had taken over Swat Valley. There were many new laws and policies they enforced on Swat Valley.
One of them was against girls going to school.
When Malala was only 11 she and her father started to speak out for the right for women and girls to go to school.

Shortly afterward, Pakistan drove Taliban out of Swatt Valley.
But Malala's fight for justice was not over yet.
She was going to high school when an event happened that changed her life forever.
She got to school by taking the bus with five or six girls.
This was also the way she got home.
Her mother started to make her take the bus instead of walking because all year they had started to get threats form Taliban and her mother thought in was now unsafe to walk to school.
Then one life changing moment happened on October 12, 2012 when a Taliban gunman shot her in the head and changed her world forever...
Malala was on the bus heading home, when a man jumped in the middle of the road. He leaped on the bus and asked, "who is Malala?" Every one looked at Malala and the man pulled out a gun. There were 3 shots. One hit her. She was rushed to the hospital. 6 days later she was flown out of Pakistan. She hopes that she will be returning to Pakistan someday.

Noble Peace Prize
When Malala received the noble peace prize in Oslo on December 10, 2014 she said she was "honored" to be the first Pakistan person to receive it.

She won the prize for her fight for girls to get to go to school.
Malala is very proud of her prize and couldn't ask for more.
She is the youngest person to ever win the noble peace prize.
She says that she is probably the only person to ever win the nobel peace prize that still fights with her younger brothers.
