Note from the Principal - Returning to School
On January 25th the WLWV School Board voted to amend our K-5 reopening timeline in light of several developments during the prior two weeks. This new timeline accounts for recent prioritization of vaccination availability for K-12 educators, meeting advisory health metrics, and provides reopening dates for grades 6-12.
Timeline for Reopening ALL GRADES
When we reopen West Linn-Wilsonville schools for in-person learning, the county will have met the health advisory metrics, or, all staff working directly with students will have had the opportunity to access their first dose of the vaccine.
February 22 — Kindergarten returns to in-person learning
March 1 — Grade 1 returns
March 3 — Grade 2 returns
March 8 — Grade 3 returns
March 10 — Grades 4-6 return
March 15 — Grades 7-12 return
Please be sure to carefully review the "10 Things You Can Do To Prepare For Returning Back To School" chart included below. A link is provided so that you can download this document as needed. In addition, please continue to watch for important updates and carefully read forthcoming communications to families from the district, myself and your child's teacher.
10 things you can do to prepare for returning back to school
Transition to Hybrid Model Includes 3 Professional Days for Staff
The District has set aside 3 Professional Days to support K-12 teachers and staff in the transition from Comprehensive Distance Learning (CDL) to the Hybrid Model. These days will include time for teachers and staff to:
- Participate in 3 trainings on safety protocols including COVID-19 training (aligned to OSHA requirements); each school’s procedures outlined in their Operational Blueprint; and walk-throughs of the facility to solidify the new routines with access, flow and adjusted learning spaces.
- Set up classrooms to prepare for students’ return.
- Plan with grade level and department colleagues on the implementation of the Hybrid model including changes with the instructional model, classroom routines and procedures.
These days will be non-school days for students in Comprehensive Distance Learning as teachers and staff need to focus time and attention completely on the safety trainings and the successful transition to the Hybrid Model. The dates of these non-school days will differ for each grade level and have been highlighted below. These changes to instruction do not apply to students in the WLWV K12 Online Program:
PRIMARY SCHOOLS: February 17, February 18, February 19
MIDDLE SCHOOLS: February 24, February 26, March 5
HIGH SCHOOLS: March 3, March 5, March 12
10 Things You Can Do To Prepare For Returning Back To School
Please begin having conversations with your child about returning to school and how it will be both exciting and different from past school experiences. While we will be providing families with more tips and details for this, some simple ways to get started now can be:
- Have your child practice wearing a face mask for increasing lengths of time and while playing outside.
- Ensure your child has several face masks that they find comfortable and that fit well
- Practice washing hands thoroughly and independently
- Help young students build independence with things such as zipping coats and pants, tying shoes, opening lunch bags and containers.
- Point out social distance markings in public places and how to follow them.
These simple practices done well will help ensure the safety of our school community when we return. Use this as a tool or reference to begin your work at home. You can start setting your child up for success with these helpful ideas today.

Remember to report absences
If your student is going to miss a class or activity, it is important to inform the school office ahead of time when possible. Parents can do this by using ParentVUE, by calling the school office at (503) 673-7750 or by emailing laschobs@wlwv.k12.or.us. Students in the K12 Online Program should also use ParentVUE or alert their teacher and program director if there are going to be any changes in a student’s engagement.

The District Office maintains a resource guide for food, housing, bill pay assistance and other financial supports. Please follow this link to access that information:
Welcome Boeckman Creek Families!
It’s hard to believe half of the school year is behind us! So far this year we have been able to raise some funds through the Fun Run and Charleston Wrap direct sales. In the next couple months, we have a take-home art project and a STEM kit in the pipeline. We have heard that the kids have enjoyed the past couple projects.
The Boeckman Read-a-Thon has been a big success so far! As of Monday, our Boeckman community has read over 15,150 minutes! We are happy to see so many kids enjoying reading. We will be accepting entries until Friday, February 5. Drawing winners will be chosen and announced early next week. Bookmarks will be sent soon afterwards.
In the next few weeks CDL students will be transitioning to hybrid students. We wish you all a smooth start to the next phase towards normality. Whether you be at home still or in the classroom, we are here to support our Boeckman community in any way we can.
Next year, a few of our board members will be transitioning out. The positions of Treasurer and Secretary are open for nominations. If you are interested yourself or know of someone who would be a great fit, please send us an email, a message or come to our next PTA meeting. We have really enjoyed working together, but we open our arms to anyone wanting to serve our Boeckman Creek community.
If you have not done so yet, please consider joining us in supporting Boeckman Creek. Find out more about us on our website at www.BoeckmanPTA.org or on Facebook page at Boeckman Creek PTA.
Please join us for our next PTA meeting on March 2, 2021, at 6:30pm on ZOOM, see Facebook for details.
