Principal's Message

Dear Estabrook Families,

One of the many benefits of teaching and learning on a school year calendar is the opportunity to celebrate two new years. This week we marked the start to the new calendar year, while midstream in our work at Estabrook School. Students across the building are restarting their years, thinking about how they can be the best students they can, either in the academic, personal or interpersonal realms. Our teachers are setting new goals or renewing their own goals for students, and for their own professional learning and growth.

I encourage you to think about what goals you set for your family at the start of the school year, be them around reading, rest or time together. Use the start of 2017 to check in on how your work toward these goals has gone, and where you hope to head.

Happy New Year!

Jeff LaBroad

Grades 4 & 5 to Perform Concert Next Week

You are invited to attend the Estabrook Winter Concert on Thursday, January 12 at 9:00 a.m. or 11:00 a.m. in the Estabrook Performance Center. Parents are invited to attend either the 9:00 A.M. or 11:00 A.M. concert, which will include the Fifth Grade Chorus, fifth grade band students and fourth and fifth grade string students. The concert will be about 45 minutes long. Out of respect for our performers, plan to attend the entire concert.

Digital Citizenship & Responsibility Resources Available

Last month Estabrook teachers and administrators shared information about the district's digital citizenship and safety work with parents. If you weren't able to attend, you can access the information shared by visiting our Digital Citizenship and Internet Safety website.

Arrival and Dismissal Update

Since the start of the school year, students traveling to and from school by car have done so exclusively using live drop-off and pick-up. The increase in student safety, as well as the expediency of our traffic flow have proven exceptionally positive. We thank you for your continued cooperation.

A reminder, vehicles may not enter the parking lot from 8:15-8:45 and 3:00-3:30 (12:00-12:30 Thursdays), except for those who have an appointment at the school or are picking up a student from the Nurse's Office.

As a LEED-Certified School, Estabrook encourages alternative modes of transportation, and as a result has limited on-site parking. Parking in the front circle is available after 8:45 a.m. Cars arriving before 8:45 will not be able to park before that time. Cars must be moved by 2:45 p.m. (11:45 a.m. on Thursdays. Parking is available at any time on Royal Circle.

Report Cards Coming January 27

Midyear report cards will be released to parents on Friday, January 27. Parents will access report cards using the Aspen Parent Portal. If you do not have access, contact the Parent Portal HelpDesk at
